Job description

Come join us on our mission as we revolutionize energy storage to enable a sustainable future.

We're on a mission to electrify cars by building the next generation of battery technology! Do you want to learn about and work on this critical part of the future energy economy?

QuantumScape is located in San Jose, California focused on developing new energy storage technology to allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. Our leap in energy density and charge rate is enabled by a different chemistry and cell architecture which also benefits safety. Our quick progress is due in part to a state-of-the-art laboratory facility, highly automated data collection and analysis, and a strong and clear set of values.

We are seeking a highly-motivated battery researcher to further improve the performance of our novel solid-state batteries. You will learn how the technology works, develop new techniques for device characterization, and work with the broader team to improve our materials and processing.

Responsibilities:

Develop novel electrochemical testing methods to enable high-throughput characterization of our state-of-the-art devices

Probe underlying mechanisms of anode charge and discharge behavior to improve performance across a larger operating window

Collaborate with colleagues from multiple fields to optimize solutions and ensure that process specifications and device performance goals are met

Organize and communicate findings to the larger team

Experience and education:

MS in materials science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field or BS with a minimum of 2 years experience in an R&D role

Experience conducting experiments in a laboratory setting

Skills and Knowledge:

You have a sound understanding of materials science and chemistry fundamentals

You are self-motivated and have a track record of learning new skills and techniques, and applying those to achieve results

You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adapt quickly to changes

You are a strong communicator and enjoy working on a team to tackle complex challenges

You share our passion for our mission
