Job description

Independent Electric is seeking a Human Resources Director to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. The HR Director/Business Partner is responsible for partnering with the Leadership Team to understand the business strategy and to identify opportunities to increase organizational effectiveness and productivity. The HR Director is responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies and activities that enable growth, innovation, overall organizational effectiveness and change management. Additionally, the HR Director drives corporate led initiatives with the team and communicates how these programs fit in with the overall business and HR strategy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

* Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new HR team members.
* Creates development plan for HR team.
* Oversees the daily workflow of the HR team.
* Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations and annual performance reviews.
* Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

* Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
* Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
* Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
* Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
* Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
* Ensures 100% compliance with Sonepar Code of Conduct and Compliance policies.
* Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
* Develops and implements departmental budget.
* Conducts annual Talent Review sessions to identify and develop high potential talent to fill key company roles.
* Plans and implements strategies to build management capabilities and a strong succession plan.
* Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
* Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
* Partners with Talent Acquisition team to support the drive for top talent while implementing best practices for Compensation, Organizational Development, and Change Management.
* Conducts and/or facilitates training on HR-related topics such as performance management, leadership, interviewing, HR policies, etc.
* Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
* 5+ years strategic progressive HR Generalist human resource management experience with preference of multi-facility or multi-state operation.
* HRCI SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP highly preferred. If not credentialed at time of hire, then willingness to earn certification by end of second year from hire date.
* Experience providing HR consultation and partnership to business unit executives and senior leaders.
* Strong business acumen, HR and Organization Development expertise with proficiency in multiple disciplines within HR.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong knowledge of Excel reporting and ability to source, report, and analyze data.
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
* Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
* Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
* Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information to all levels of management.
* Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals.
