The inflammation biology group at Gilead is looking for accomplished scientist to join the group and pursue cutting-edge discovery and translational research in immunology and autoimmune diseases.

Essential Functions:

-Utilize various technological tools, such as in vitro and in vivo based CRISPR screening, to reveal the pathogenesis of many autoimmune diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases and rheumatoid diseases, identify key cellular and molecular pathways, and develop innovative therapies.

-Integrate data from human genetics and multiomic data from human diseases to stratify patient populations.

Lead a team and collaborate with other functional areas to develop therapeutic profile and various high throughput assays to identify and finalize therapeutic candidates.

The position will require both good communication and managerial skills in order to interface effectively with other functional support groups (histopathology, high-throughput biology, and bioinformatics) and manage activities of highly skilled associate scientists.

Participate in evaluation of external licensing opportunities.

Qualifications and requirements:

-PhD or equivalent degree and at least 7+ years of relevant post-graduate independent research and/or drug development experience in immunology, molecular biology or autoimmune diseases from industry. -A strong technical background in molecular biology, biochemistry, cellular immunology, or in vivo autoimmune disease models is desired.

-Must demonstrate critical analytical skill and ability to lead independent hypothesis-driven biological research, as exemplified by high quality publications or drug developmental achievements.

-Strong communication skills required, with an ability to communicate and scientifically engage individuals across a large breadth of levels and translate ideas and data into concise written and verbal communications.
