Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Control Inspector conducts all facets of in-process and final inspections to raw materials, processed, machined, fabricated, and/or assembled parts or products.

The QC Inspector tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality, i.e. free from defects, wear, and deviations from specifications in order to meet customer and quality requirements. In addition, the inspector provides quality support to engineering and production through advanced Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and inspection. Works effectively with engineers, inspectors, supervisors and production personnel to resolve quality issues, achieve team objectives and promote quality principles.

The Quality Control Inspector reports directly to the QC Supervisor, Orchid Santa Ana and is part of the Quality department.

This is a contingent worker temporary position. If you are selected for this position, you will be employed through an agency, not directly though Orchid. However, you may be eligible for conversion to an employee position after only a few months in this role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Completes first article inspections as well as receiving, in-process, and final and packaging inspections against customer requirements
  • Performs critical types of inspections, such as raw materials and mechanical inspections
  • Performs testing and inspection at various stages of production, visual and dimensional inspection
  • Writes and maintains CMM programs based on customer and company specifications
  • Troubleshoot and contact outside technical support services for CMM software
  • Assists engineers with qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts
  • Prepares detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering specifications
  • Writes, updates, and improves quality procedures
  • Ensures compliance with medical device regulations, customer specifications and quality standards are met
  • Utilizing measuring instrument and equipment, such as: calipers, comparators, gages, micrometers, etc. completes various levels of inspection in a timely and accurate manner
  • Reviews blueprints and documentation to ensure appropriate materials are used and specifications are followed
  • Tests and inspects at various product stages during production for defects, such as scratches, burrs, surface finish, and dimensional variances. Notifies Supervisor/Lead and other parties of production issues and assists with identifying and correcting problems in a timely manner
  • Train inspection personnel and instructs and provides direction to other inspectors on most efficient use of equipment
  • Inspect customer-returned parts
  • Quarantines non-conforming parts
  • Completes necessary paperwork to fulfill customer requirements and quality requirements, e.g. recording test data, recording quantities inspected
  • Ensure all systems transactions are completed and documented
  • Other duties, tasks, or responsibilities, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
