This exciting Manager role will inspire and lead our team of customer-facing Architects and Engineers in crafting solutions that allow customers to realize transformative business outcomes through technology to drive profitable growth for Lumen and our customers as they embrace the 4th Industrial Revolution. This team will work in partnership with our Sales and Customer Success teams in identifying, proposing, and closing Lumen solutions for new business opportunities with new and existing customers.
This Manager role is accountable for ensuring Lumen achieves its sales and revenue goals and provides leadership towards achieving maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. The successful Manager cultivates a world class team by continuously developing the team members, managing through change, and growing strong relationships within her or his ecosystem. The Manager will ensure the architects & engineers are visible, valuable, and accountable to our customers through opportunity engagement, disrupting the status quo and driving new business.
The Lumen Solutions Architecture teams are responsible for providing deep technical support for Lumen's Solution Engineering in support of all Business Solutions products. The Media, Entertainment and Gaming vertical interfaces with some of the largest logos in the world in sports entertainment, broadcast media, game development and more. The Solutions Architecture manager plays a pivotal role towards architecting outcomes and driving engagement with customers by leading and managing front Solution Engineers to align, enable and accelerate customer outcomes through technology.
The Main Responsibilities
This position is location agnostic as the team is located in various locations all over the country. In this position, you will play a key role in the region's go to market strategy with our Media and Entertainment customers. Directly aligning with the General Manager for Sales, and Customer Success leadership within the market. Collaborating & participating in strategic market reviews, contributing to departmental planning, and ensuring your team's progress in driving top line sales & revenue growth. You will be tasked with finding innovative ways to solve complex technical solutions using Lumens product portfolio as well as leveraging Lumen's ecosystem partners. This position will ensure that the Lumen Technology Solutions team develops technical solutions while ensuring accordance with customer requirements.
- Drive Sales and Revenue Growth: Drive activity that generates new sales with customers and prospects and that creates long-term revenue growth for Lumen.
- Build a High-Performance Team: Hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and act. Demonstrates Lumen's corporate values, maintains a positive and open demeanor, encourages different points of view, moves team forward through change; provides timely information; communicates context for business decisions; recognizes accomplishments; fosters teamwork and collaboration; drives continuous improvement in product and industry knowledge across the team.
- Thought Leadership: Participates in executive-level discussions with current and prospective Lumen customers to determine their innovation priorities and deliver guidance to support their business transformation efforts using the Lumen Platform. Participates in Lumen and industry subject-matter expertise communities ensuring success for customers that consume Lumen services.
- Customer Advocate: Acts as customer advocate, ensuring the right resources are engaged in sales efforts and serves as an escalation for requirement definition and solution design. Maintains ownership for the overall innovation strategy and solution development effort for how target customers will realize business transformation using the Lumen service portfolio.
- Ecosystem Alignment: Demonstrates strong stakeholder management across the account team leadership including sales, customer success and other functions. Heavy emphasis on driving collaboration with Product Management and other internal teams for customized solutions.
- General Experience: Proven track record of leading technical pre-sales and/or consulting pre-sales teams in the achievement of sales results on a year over year basis.
- Technical Knowledge: Possess knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Design alongside exposure to CDN, broadcast, gaming networks. Ability to discuss a wide range of emerging technologies and practices in support of customer evaluation and adoption. B road understanding of key technology domains including premise and cloud infrastructure, security best practices, enterprise architectures, data and application frameworks, IT operations, and industry compliance standards.
- Communication: Excellent presentation, speaking and writing skills with the ability to effectively communicate a compelling vision and complex technical concepts to a broad range of audiences, including the C-Suite. Collaborative team builder with experience working across multiple business units to achieve results.
- Interpersonal Skills: Able to form strong working relationships that bridge technical and business functions and obtain buy-in across complex organizations. Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust with customers and engage with a shared vision for transformation and success.
- Organizational Agility: The ability to overcome business and technical hurdles, demonstrating the business benefits and operational path required to achieve change. Able to maintain focus on objectives while also managing through ambiguous and dynamic business environments. Comfortable working in both a direct and matrixed operating structure.
- Approach: Highly proactive, consultative, creative, and positive with a can-do attitude even in the most difficult circumstances. Strong continuous improvement mindset and passion to identify or develop strategies to maximize operational efficiency and return on investment.
- Work experience: Minimum 5 years of success leading and managing teams (15+ people) in the technology arena including work in a sales environment.
