Job description
Summary:
The Research Associate will be member of Analytical Development Group and in this role he/she will be responsible for analyzing in-process samples to support development and manufacture of recombinant Ad5 vectors used for oral vaccines. Additionally, the Research Associate will assist Scientists to develop, implement and validate analytical methods appropriate for release testing and product and process characterization. He/she will also participate in method transfer and stability studies. It is expected that the Research Associate will complete tasks within assigned time frames and regularly summarizing results in team meetings. This position will be located in our South San Francisco offices.
Responsibilities:
- Performs HPLC, ELISA, BCA, Spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE, qPCR/ddPCR, DLS, Western Blot, Potency/Infectivity Assays
- Data analysis, reporting and documentation
- Assist in analytical methods development, troubleshooting and validation
- Group meetings presentations
- Sample inventory maintenance and laboratory upkeep
- SOPs and technical reports writing
- Assures that training and compliance records for themselves are up to date and appropriate.
- Proactively communicates with internal and external stakeholders and supervisor, as well as peers.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Cell biology, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines with 2-5 years of experience, preferably in biotech or pharma industry with primary focus on biologics.
- Experience in techniques and assays listed in the Responsibilities section
- Meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills and demonstrated experience of carefully recording methods and results
- Proven and consistent work ethic, self-directed, open to challenges with enthusiasm
- Proficient working in Microsoft Office Suite and strong statistical skills
- Outstanding collaboration and team player
- Excellent written and oral communication skills is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with method validation and transfer to in-house QC
- Good understanding of statistical methods/tools for data analysis
- Experience with Mammalian cell culture and production of viral vectors is a strong plus.
