Reports to: Estate Manager

Summary

The Personal Laundry Aide is responsible for washing, drying, steaming, and ironing clothing and other garments. The Aide should possess knowledge of the use of a mangle iron (rotating press).

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Sort all linens and treat stains.
2. Load all laundry into washer and add specified cleaning agents.
3. Take wet, clean items and dry as directed.
4. Iron or press articles, fabrics, and furs, using hand irons or pressing machines.
   1. Smooth garments with irons, presses, or steamers.
5. Sort and fold or hang clean dried items.
6. Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to general manager.
7. Maintaining all laundry equipment and inform manager as to any maintenance needs.
8. Perform additional laundry services when necessary.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently and will have prolonged periods of standing; walking; use hands to finger, use hands to feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are usually Monday through Friday, and on occasion weekend with notice.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• One-year experience as a Dry Cleaner/Laundry Aide preferred
