Position Summary:

Industry experience in pumps or water systems STRONGLY preferred.
The Business Development Specialist (BDS) will lead the business development efforts in a dynamic and exciting assignment, provide incremental revenues in line with the company's largest and most influential business opportunities, and achieve desired revenue growth targets.
The BDS will be a self-motivated road warrior, will relentlessly prospect for new business and will develop a sense of the biggest immediate opportunities that are represented in both the core markets we serve and in new markets. The BDS will thrive on developing new business, develop high levels of customer confidence and cultivate important repeat customers for MLS.
The BDS will act as the primary incremental revenue developer for account opportunities within a defined assignment, market and/or territory. Revenues from new accounts and/or incremental revenues from new products or categories to existing accounts will drive the BDS revenue pipeline. After an account establishment, new accounts will be handed off to the account management team allowing the BDS to take their prospecting and development efforts toward new markets and opportunities. The BDS will provide targeted customers scalable business solutions, creative product ideas and innovative application solutions; all the while demonstrating business maturity, ethical behavior and personal resilience.
Position Objective:
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the BDS will play a strategic role at the grassroots level in the growth of Mitchell Lewis & Staver (MLS). This is a new and highly visible position which will have significant revenue impact. The BDS will leverage their understanding of the industry and competitive landscape to generate incremental opportunities for MLS. The BDS will drive revenue growth for the company using a proven system of disciplined prospecting and new business development. The BDS must be a passionate sales individual, bring a 'builder' mentality and maintain a high degree of competitive urgency to ensure the growth and success of MLS.
Essential Functions:
- Execute plans to acquire new customers and aggressively pursue existing and prospective accounts with new product categories.
- Execute business development plans for a market and/or territory to gain market share, introduce new products and/or categories, optimize revenues from local branches, explore new lines of revenue and contribute if that is the case to a geographic expansion.
- Maintain a collaborative role with functional territorial leads in sales, operations, and marketing to support all business development efforts.
- Willing to accept short term deployments to support specific revenue growth initiatives
- Maintain a continuous learning mindset and act by being a creative sales leader that thrives on finding new business, solving problems, and overcoming objections.
- Provide timely analysis and insights from monitoring market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
- Provide progress and status updates to leadership team and develop courses of action, as necessary.
- Become an agile problem solver and critical thinker who is comfortable with ambiguity and crafts structured solutions and plans with strategic personnel alignment.
- React positively to constructive direction and maintain a spirit of continuous learning.
- Follow and comply with company policies and procedures.
Experience and Abilities Required:
- Industry experience in pumps or water systems STRONGLY preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in a sales, marketing and/or business development role in a B2B environment.
- Extensive industry/sector knowledge and experience working within the mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical fields preferred.
- Implemented meaningful business development plans with measurable impact.
- Accountability for plan execution and drive for results
- Analytical thinking capability, leveraging data-driven arguments to make decisions.
- Customer focus with ability to understand, communicate and meet customer needs.
- Negotiation skills and expertise; ability to cope with ambiguity, and work through complex problems and manage conflict.
- A real passion for inspiring and influencing others in a new business environment
- Excellent time management skills and experienced in CRM technologies.
- Knowledge of and capability within the Microsoft office suite.
- A willingness to travel, mostly domestic, up to 60% - when safe to travel again.

Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, mechanical, business, or related discipline required.
