Job description
**Research Associate I**
Kelly has an immediate opening within a molecular diagnostic company in Sunnyvale, CA. This is a full-time, 6 month, contract position.
**OVERVIEW:**
The Research Associate will be working in the R&D group focusing primarily on qPCR and RT-PCR assay and product development in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Preparing buffer reagents to support and optimize qPCR and RT-PCR conditions
+ Handling and dealing with infectious viruses
+ Optimizing sample preparation
+ Contributing to design of experiments (DOE)
+ Handling of clinical samples and helping perform microbiology work of various microorganisms and tissue cultures
+ Use of standard operating procedures (SOPs) or scientific methods to guide work and solve standard problems
**REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Bachelors degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
+ 1 year of experience within molecular diagnostic/pharmaceutical/or biotech company (can also be public health labs or biomedical research facilities)
**PREFERRED REQUIRMENTS:**
+ Experience with viral and bacterial cultures is a plus
+ Experience in molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, BLAST, and DNA sequencing is a plus
+ Ability to work in various laboratory environments, including in a Clean Room & BSL-1/2(+) Lab is a plus
+ Ability to handle blood or other types of bodily fluids is a plus
**SHIFT**
+ M-F, flexibility required for rotational weekend work
+ 6 month long contract position
