Job description
Summary:
Become a key part of a growing, highly creative design team with a globally known automotive company. As the Interior Designer, you will work on numerous ongoing projects developing interior automotive designs. Qualified candidates will also be highly creative and have around 1-5 years of experience.
Responsibilities:
• Concept Creation and Maturation - Relying on design experience, studio resources, strategy, and research, make concepts that provide a clear product direction that is compelling as well as realistic for all projects.
• Research - Gather and organize the research so it supports the design decisions and outlines the product (or brand) strategy.
• Communication - Sell the concept, backed by the research, to any/all stakeholders (team members, other Project Leads, Executives) to gain support and buy-off on the desired direction.
• Conducting product, ,styling and consumer research, developing and presenting original designs/concepts
• Creating sketches, renderings, and computer graphic illustrations, negotiating styling changes
• Evaluating/revising original designs
• Broad project management
Requirements:
• Sketch/Render - Work with a team of highly skilled designers, modelers, fabricators to realize the direction set by the overall concept. Use 2D sketch/rendering as a starting point.
• Data - Orchestrate the digital 3D data (Alias, Catia, or other) creation schedule and output to support visualization, as well as communication with other groups (fabrication, engineering, surface-development, etc.).
• Feasibility - Participate in/oversee feasibility meetings to guarantee that the overall styling direction is being met and falls within production parameters. Technical knowledge and maintaining accuracy will be a key attribute for success.
• Presentation - Present the project at various target meetings/evaluations to communicate the design intent as well as project status. Address Executive concerns or questions as well as take feedback and comments to improve the product result.
• Schedule Management - Correlate and organize each activity segment so there is adequate time and resources to achieve the desired target.
Location: Torrance, CA (hybrid schedule 50% onsite 50% offsite)
