Job description

Must have Gas Chromatography (GC), HPLC & IR experience. Must have proficient experience with these instruments and able to troubleshoot and calibrate.

Under limited supervision, the employee is responsible for supervising the functions of an analytical test department. This includes, but is not limited to, the generation and reporting of analytical data and the prioritizing of sample load in the department. In addition to performing and overseeing these functions, the employee maintains turn-around-time and test requirements required of the clients. Within the scope of authority, the employee is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of analytical data and reports developed in the department. Laboratory technician reports directly to Laboratory Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Analytical Testing Production:
* Ensures turn-around-times are not exceeded and establishes sample priorities in the department.
* Performs analytical analyses on samples of varying matrices.
* Verifies accuracy and completeness of in-progress paperwork and analytical data.
* Ensures adherence to applicable ASTM Test Methods.
* Enters test data and generates analytical reports as needed.
* Provides a safe and clean working environment in department.
* Adheres to and promotes safety policies throughout department.
* Maintains generated waste in appropriate containers and within time guidelines.

* Lab Functions and Equipment Maintenance:
* Installs, calibrates, repairs, and maintains department equipment.
* Provides technical and trouble-shooting support for testing and equipment maintenance.
* Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.
* Working knowledge of gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and fluid analysis.
* Understands principles of chemical analysis and physical chemistry.
* Receives incoming samples and properly inputs customer information into laboratory database
* Assists the Lab Manager with sample preparation, handling, and traceability.
* Runs chemical tests on lab equipment as instructed by the Lab Manager.
* Performs other lab functions as directed by the Lab Manager.

Desired Skills & Experience:

* Associates Degree or higher in a science discipline or other related area from an accredited college or university required
* Experience in an analytical lab setting is a plus
