Job description

AmeriCorps VIP Fellow - Ventura County

The Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) inspires community volunteerism, connecting community members with their neighbors in need. VIP Fellows are AmeriCorps members who lead "behind the scenes" in existing schools and nonprofits (Partner Sites) to build sustainable volunteer programs. Fellows do this through: 1) building systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers; 2) recruiting one-time and skills-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the volunteer program. Example Partner Sites in our community include United Way of Ventura County, Partnership for Safe Families, CSUCI . Fellows spend the majority of their time at their Partner Site collaborating with professional staff to build systems of volunteer management. VIP Fellows also spend time in the community, building partnerships and connecting community members with service opportunities. VIP Fellows are a part of a statewide network of 120 Fellows, and are placed in small teams of 5 or more in their community who meet regularly for collaboration and training. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference. During the service year, VIP Fellows earn a Volunteer Management Certificate to build skills in volunteer management. Extensive training in nonprofit professional skills is also offered. The VIP Fellow team in this region is managed by United Way of Ventura County. VIP Fellows lead volunteers and inspire communities to support important service efforts through meaningful service programs that change lives. Come join us, and make an impact this year.
