HPHDC Communications and Fundraising Associate

High Plains Housing Development Corp. (High Plains) is a small nonprofit affordable housing developer with the mission of focusing on developing housing opportunities for the most vulnerable populations in Greeley/Weld County, Colorado, including: the chronically homeless, precariously housed, very low income households, and aging adults. While the lack of affordable housing across all levels of housing affordability is a crisis across America, Greeley/Weld County is struggling in particular with a high rate of homelessness and an acute shortage of housing for persons experiencing homelessness and households living below 30% AMI. High Plains is leading multiple community planning efforts to create these housing opportunities, and the next several years will be a time of growth and challenge for the organization as it completes development on several projects. The VISTA member will have the opportunity to be on the grassroots level of helping to grow and position the organization as an active, effective and dynamic housing developer for many years to come. Greeley, Colorado is the county seat, and a university town situated on the Northeastern Front Range of Colorado. Every year, Greeley is home to the "Greeley Stampede" Rodeo, the "Blues Jam" music festival, the Greeley Arts Picnic, and "Friday Fest," a free outdoor concert hosted weekly throughout the summer. Just an hour's drive north of Denver, east of Rocky Mountain National Park, and south of Wyoming, Weld County is a fast-growing and popular area with gorgeous views of the Rockies from the comfort of acres of rolling farmland.

Member Duties : The High Plains VISTA Member will be helping to strengthen the organization's basic systems, processes, financial resources, and public awareness in order to increase and sustain the organization's mission. Member duties will include: 1) Communications/Marketing: Creating a website, developing social/print media presence, developing a Speaker's Bureau; 2) Fundraising/Project Support: Identify funding sources, write grants, develop donor database; 3) Strategic Planning: Research & develop strategic planning strategy; and work with Board of Directors to implement; 4) Affordable Housing Pre-Development Activities: Assist with project development research, tasks, and reporting activities
