Position Summary

The Cloud Engineer will be helping RWT in designing, configuration, and implementation of their enterprise cloud platforms. In this role, they will have end to end responsibilities on strategy, design, set up and operations of cloud platforms.

This person will work closely with decision makers to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions which include cloud design and build along with disaster recovery.

The Cloud Engineer will work in close partnership with other IT team members and will participate in overall IT planning and development of cloud strategies bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology. This position will be responsible for designing and delivering technology solutions which are fault tolerant, cost effective, and scalable to support our development, test and production environments.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Expert knowledge with at least one of the three major cloud providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding cloud services deployment and maintenance
• Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies
• Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
• Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
• Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
• Expert knowledge of and experience with enterprise scale technologies including cloud and on-prem.
• Experience with information security, security hardware, security software and technologies.
• Expert scripting knowledge through experience with various scripting languages.
• Use practical knowledge and a large experience of Internet facing environments.
• Conceptual, strategic thinking and knowledge of emerging technologies.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Ability to lead and mentor others as required.
• Must be able to quickly identify and resolve issues and concepts supporting cloud and on-prem solutions.
• Ability to independently resolve complex problems, provide documentation, guidance, and instruction to users at all levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to include negotiation.

Required Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree related to Computer Science, Business or Information Systems preferred or equivalent experience and certifications
• 5+ years leading design and support of enterprise-level cloud services including:
• Expertise in operational stability, ensuring up-time
• Experience in disaster recovery and business continuity
• Expertise in capacity, performance, security, and business continuity
• Expertise in data center management and migrations
• 12+ years' experience creating, troubleshooting, and supporting complex environments.
• 5+ years working experience with a broad range of Technology Infrastructure solutions including the following:
• Active Directory, VMWare, Windows Server, Networking
• Experience analyzing and documenting Technology solutions and mapping them to business requirements.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture concepts and best practices.
• Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies.
• Experience managing a project or serving as a project team lead.
