Job Summary
The Resort Application Development Team is a software development team within Vail resorts that is focused on the support, maintenance and development of many resort-based applications. For example, Guest Connect is the Point of Sale system that sells Lift Tickets, Season Passes, Ski and Ride School and other miscellaneous products. The RAD team has the opportunity to interface with many other Vail Resorts applications such as our Digital platforms, Food and Beverage, Rental and Retail systems.
A Senior BA on this team is seen as an ambitious leader and subject matter expert. They create strong partnerships with our stakeholders to gather, document, and approve all business requirements that shape the software development process. Key activities for this individual include:
- Understanding business needs and translating into actionable user stories for development.
- Partnering with PM/Scrum master to identify priorities, quickly resolve questions and meet sprint goals.
- Partnering with QA resources to ensure AC's are clear and testing is effective.
- Partnering with developers to determine technology solutions to delight our stakeholders.
- Keeping an active eye on opportunities for process improvement within and across the RAD team.
- Support our production management team to assist in unforeseen issues that arise post-release and help drive quick resolution to keep the team moving.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers and developers to create and execute on well written and actionable user stories.
- Lead the development of business, functional, and technical requirement sessions to prepare appropriate documentation such as the preparation of flow charts, wireframes, functional specifications and use cases.
- Be a strong partner with QA team to help support and validate test plans and test scripts, document test results, and report on results while coordinating usage of test environments.
- Lead and coordinate UAT testing for assigned releases with appropriate testing audience.
- Provide operational support for product applications, utilizing our ITConnect and Jira systems, including weekend on-call support on a rotational basis.
- Participate and/or lead focus groups to solicit user feedback based on current system usage and desired future system enhancements.
- Ensure all work follows the SDLC process, meets SOX and PCI requirements, and maintain all required supporting documentation. Ensure all risk and compliance obligations are met.
- Actively participate and be a leader in all agile ceremony meetings.
- Provide communication and training as required to key RPOS stakeholders/users on new system functionality, releases, and fixes.
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide data to the user community as requested.
- Execution of project tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Professional Business Analyst experience in an Agile/Scrum Software Development environment.
- Effective in requirements gathering and documentation skills.
- Upbeat and positive attitude to help drive an engaging team dynamic.
- Understanding of the QA process and steps required to execute effectively.
- Strong partnering skills with stakeholders to forge relationships built on trust and credibility.
- Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and decisiveness.
- Strong desire to keep learning and growing your skills
- MS Office, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or equivalent in related job experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with MS Development Technologies, including VB6, .Net, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS
- Experience in a ski resort or hospitality field
- Prior RPOS/RTP or similar software application experience
- Work order and ticketing system experience, such as ITConnect, Jira, etc.
