The Role
Lumen announced an accelerated investment plan for Fiber infrastructure throughout the United States, and is looking for a Vice President and General Manager, Mass Markets, responsible for the end-to-end execution of Lumen's Quantum Fiber growth strategy. The VP/GM will be the "Quarterback" for the region, directing the $300 million dollar annual CAPX plan into high return areas, coordinating the engineering and construction plans with North America Operations, communicating market specific needs and opportunities to corporate brand and marketing, promoting Lumen's products and services through the development of local sales and marketing plans, local relationships and partnerships, effective funnel management processes, and hiring and managing effective sales and marketing teams with the outcome to deliver profitable revenue growth in excess of 30% annually in the Quantum Fiber footprint and drive attractive returns for Lumen shareholders where we deploy Fiber.
This leader has end-to-end P&L responsibility and is responsible for the identification of Customer Experience improvement opportunities and driving excellence throughout all customer touchpoints within the Mass Markets Organization and all partner and matrixed organizations through cross functional relationships and initiatives.
A successful candidate will collaborate on strategic vision and execute initiatives to drive sales, engagement, and positive customer experiences using a digital first mindset.
The Main Responsibilities
- Developing, executing, and maintaining high performing sales and marketing organizations, lowering attrition, and driving a positive sales culture with a winning attitude
- Responsible for understanding of customer's business needs, identifying customer opportunities, in order to develop viable plans for current Lumen and targeted customers.
- Understand the market and competitive landscape to build go-to-market strategies that differentiate Lumen.
- Create and develop local GTM (go to market) strategies and plans, including goal setting, performance tracking, results management, audience definition, messaging strategy, creative asset development, channel planning, segmentation, and customer experience metrics.
- Achieve aggressive sales goals for the team and take full ownership over leading the team to meet those goals.
- Directing $300M in annual CAPX to the highest return opportunities.
- Coordinating activities with Network Planning and Construction to ensure on-time, on budget execution of Fiber Expansion plans
- Building and managing local sales and marketing teams with specific growth targets and CX metrics at granular geographic areas.
- Leverage industry information, competitive analysis, customer and campaign analytics, and primary/secondary research to inform product, pricing, and promotion decisions.
- Build a culture of data-driven decision making through research & experimentation.
- Lead liaison efforts with finance, service delivery, operations, pricing, marketing, etc. to develop and execute monthly/yearly forecast & plans, which will complement new and existing sales and marketing efforts.
- Exceed annual, Revenue, Expense, and Cash Flow targets
- Drive end to end accountability for customer sales and service experience.
- 15+ years leadership experience in sales and marketing or as general manager with Bachelor's degree or 12+ years with Master's degree
- Demonstrated sales and marketing experience in a related discipline, with a clear track record for consistently exceeding revenue goals
- Proven track record of successfully building, training, motivating and growing sales and marketing teams to reach and exceed sales and revenue goals
- Proven ability to hire, manage and motivate successful, customer focused teams
- Demonstrated leadership ability, people-management and mentoring skills
- Experience as a strategic member of a management team who contributes significantly to growth and development of the business
- High energy level and a demonstrated drive to succeed.
- Employment of ethical business practices
- Ability to travel 50%

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
