Here is some of what you can expect from being an Administrative Assistant with us:

  • You will have primary responsibility for the efficient organization and effectiveness of the Pathology Department
  • You will maintain a competent level of performance and provide quality service for the secretarial and clerical duties for the Pathology Department
  • You will provide customer service and interacts with physicians, hospital directors, laboratory staff, hospital staff, as well as patients and families as indicated
  • You will provide clerical support for the Pathologists and Laboratory Director
  • You will oversee office supply inventory
  • You will assist in the completion of departmental assignments
  • Receive and verify patient information on all paperwork and specimen containers for accuracy
  • Accurately accession/Log all cases into the Lab Information System.
  • Maintain slide filing, prepare tumor conferences, maintain laboratory records, maintain pathology equipment and logs.
  • Answer the department telephone and direct calls to the appropriate person for response
  • Maintains reports, prepares send out documentation and monitors result receipt
  • Maintains necessary legal documentation
  • Assists with supply ordering, receipt, storage and inventory of supplies
  • Participates in QA reviews are needed
  • Assists with laboratory accreditation inspection preparations
  • Agrees to wear appropriate PPE

Qualifications

Qualifications you will need for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year medical office or hospital laboratory secretarial experience
  • Supervisory/management skills preferred
  • Knowledge of office procedures and medical terminology
  • Computer experience and word processing preferred
  • Effective communication and human relation skills
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple task simultaneously
