The salary for this position is approximately $116,000 at Assistant Professor level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty, and training.

The Department of Finance at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) is conducting a search for a full-time, tenure track position to begin January 2022. MSU Denver is a comprehensive, urban institution that provides students from all walks of life and circumstances an opportunity for an education leading to a degree and a productive life. Founded in 1965, the University's current enrollment is nearly 20,000 students.
This position is a full-time tenure track position created to support the newly approved real estate degree. The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper division undergraduate courses in real estate finance while engaging in meaningful professional development activities as evidenced by production of intellectual contributions to be shared with the wider academic and professional communities, as well as engaging in service activities that benefit the Department, College, and/or University. In particular, the successful candidate for this position will be expected to demonstrate a track record in the real estate industry, possess experience in teaching real estate related courses, and/or hold appropriate professional real estate certifications.

The College of Business houses six academic departments: Finance, Accounting, Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics, Economics, Management, and Marketing.
The Department of Finance serves almost 400 majors who can choose specialized study in either general finance, financial services, banking, or real estate. The financial services curriculum is registered with CFP Board of Standards, and graduates may qualify (depending on their coursework) to sit for the national certification exam upon graduation.
The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and have demonstrated a commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.
Duties/Responsibilities
Teaching
The successful candidate will normally be expected to teach four sections of upper-division, undergraduate finance courses for each of the Fall & Spring semesters, which will normally involve 2-3 unique class preps. A candidate who also teaches in the MBA program will reduce the expected teaching load to three courses for that semester. Consistently high levels of teaching performance, as evidenced by student ratings of instruction will be a key consideration in reappointment. The
successful candidate for this position will be expected to teach courses in real estate and have the ability to teach courses in other disciplines within the College of Business.
Professional Development
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in activities that enhance the faculty member's knowledge base and skill set, are shared with the wider academic community, and result in the cultivation of new concepts and material that can then be delivered in the classroom. Such intellectual contributions are expected in this position and will be a key condition of reappointment.
Required Qualifications
* Candidates must have a minimum of a MS in Real Estate or a related field
* Candidates must meet the criteria described in the College of Business Faculty Qualification policy at the time of hire for either SA, SP, IP, or SP status (as defined by the University). These classifications are explained in detail in the Faculty Qualification Document linked here:
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have:
* Professional experience in the field of real estate, with a minimum of five years of industry experience
* Related professional Real Estate certifications
* The ability to teach upper division courses in other departments within the College of Business
* The ability to document a minimum of three years of successful high-level teaching experience at the University level
* A documented track record of developing intellectual and scholarly contributions that have been shared with the wider academic community, or the demonstrated ability to develop such contributions based on previous work experience
* Experience teaching in an online environment, especially using the Canvas delivery system
