Central US Utility Segment Business Development Manager (Remote)

As a Central US Utility Segment Business Development, responsible for business development and sales of ABB EV Charging Infrastructure products and services within the Investor Owned and Public Power utility sector in Electrification e-Mobility, US.
Reporting to the Segment Sales manager, duties include representing ABB e-mobility to the utility industry, identifying significant business opportunities for our existing line of products, identifying market opportunities for product and service development, evaluating customer requirements, and developing and implementing sales strategies, including managing independent reps and ABB cross-functional relationships designed to satisfy those requirements while maximizing profits, improving performance and ensuring optimum levels of customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities
- Directly responsible for maximization of ABB e-mobility, EV charging sales to utilities and utility programs in the US
- Develop and maintain expertise about the EV strategies and priorities of US utilities, public power agencies, and co-operative energy providers
- Implement a plan for future segment RFP, RFQ, RFI's and ensure timely and accurate responses and proactively position ABB EV Charging Infrastructure products and services for success
- Manage independent reps, sales and service partner relationships and ABB sales in the utility segment
- Develop and maintain comprehensive database of utility industry decision-makers as it pertains to EV policy, adoption, and EV Charging Infrastructure implementation
- Understand the changing regulatory policies affecting EV infrastructure, and become the Internal and external subject matter expert, to help drive strategy
- Monitor public policy, incentives and subsidies that promote the growth of EV's and specifically EV Charging Infrastructure to develop strategy to support and participate in the programs on behalf of ABB. This includes working with federal, state agencies, Investor-Owned Utilities, Public Power Agencies, key industry associations and key municipal authorities
- Maximize ABB's participation in key programs to drive EV Infrastructure growth in the utility sector
- Execute a segment specific sales plan that delivers value to utility direct and indirect customers as it is impacts the growth of ABB EV Charging Infrastructure products
- Attend and participate and represent ABB at key industry events as it applies to the market segments mentioned above
- Support influencing technical specifications for product and application positioning
- Support ABB presence on relevant industry standards committees as needed
- Build expertise to support conference and industry event attendance and speaking opportunities
- Be technically able to provide application and sales support using Web and PC tools
- Liaise with ABB departments to support & resolve customer & sales issues
- Implements HSE and business compliance standards and regulations in the country area of responsibility
Your background
- Ten (10) years of experience in technical business development or sales & management, working as a utility program manager or utility vendor with EV charging, power electronics, grid services, grid innovation or similar role in the utility market; knowledge of Utility programs for B2B customers a plus
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience, Advanced degree highly desirable.
- Experience in dealing with electric utility influencers, executives and decision makers in program management, distribution equipment, solar, micro-grids, power electronics and other relevant segments; Experience with grid modernization projects and knowledge of Smart Grid, distributed energy resources, and energy storage technologies a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel nationally up to 50% of the time as needed so support key development efforts
- Ability to work independently, while maintaining and growing relationships within the broader ABB EVI team; Experience with EV charging infrastructure highly desirable
- Be technically able to provide application and sales support using Web and PC tools
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
