Job description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive leader of Bayaud Enterprises. The CFO's overall responsibility is for corporate financials for all aspects of the business from monthly reporting to the planning process; Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department; Manages and coordinates the activities of department employees; Responsible for implementing and developing control policies both from an accounting and also an external contract perspective; Plays a key role within the management team; Ability to build relationships with both Directors and Operational Executives at all levels; Performs ongoing analysis surrounding multi-site businesses and divisions for profitability; Ensures accounting systems are operational and troubleshoots problems to obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximization of profits from social enterprises.

  • Reports financial activities of the Company to the CEO continuously to determine performance and progress of financial goals.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Prepares projections for current year and future years to assist senior management team in making short-term and long-term decisions.
  • Understands and considers the level of fiduciary responsibility involved when making decisions for the organization.
  • Manages staff to support the culture of the Company and compliance with all Federal and State laws.
  • Develops staff through effective employment methods including, but not limited to hiring, promoting, evaluating, training and mentoring processes.
  • Manages the general ledger, maintain chart of accounts.
  • Monitors budget categories, spending rates and time restrictions to ensure all grants are on track to meet budgeted spending requirements.
  • Responsible for maintenance of financial systems to ensure data integrity, internal controls and proper security.
  • Oversees the month-end close by ensuring all required tasks are completed.
  • Prepares and manages annual budget for the Company.
  • Prepares bank reconciliation.
  • Responsible for proper, complete and timely filing of all appropriate reports, including, but not limited to IRS, Dept of Labor/ERISA and other federal, state and local jurisdictions.
  • Support external audit agencies as required.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains all accounting systems and records.
  • Leads and coordinates accounting staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting, including, but not limited to, billing, check runs, collection efforts, payroll and management reports.
  • Supports and promotes the corporation by developing and maintaining relationships with managers, employees, vendors, bankers and other business firms in the community on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality and requires confidentiality of all staff.
  • Performs special projects and/or tasks designated and agreed upon by the CEO.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Previous experience in a multi-site business, or a shared service center.
  • Heavy technical understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong background in QuickBooks
  • Software efficiency in MS Word and EXCEL spreadsheets.
  • 5-7 years experience managing staff of 4-6 employees comprised of exempt and non-exempt levels.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess capabilities to successfully assist the CEO to grow the company annually in size and revenue.
  • Ability to develop financial presentations and business case analysis for review by the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees, customers, Board of Directors, and the general public at-large.
  • Sets a good example through professional attitude and conduct.
  • Strong business reasoning and business decision-making skills.
  • Superior understanding of financial statements.
  • Knowledgeable in strategizing financial options.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a strong interest in this type of business.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where challenging deadlines and constant change is the norm.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages an accounting team of 4 - 6 staff, exempt and non-exempt.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Compassion, patience, and an inclination to work with and service individuals with disabilities and other hurdles to employment.

  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and task facilitation with an emphasis on budget and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, Board of Directors, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of diverse staff members.
  • Demonstrated lived and/or work experience with vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting required; Masters' Degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 8 -10 years experience of combined public and private industry accounting experience, including a minimum of three years of prior controllership experience in a professional service environment.
  • Three years accounting experience in a non-profit organization highly desirable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license, proof of motor vehicle insurance. Must be able to be insured by Bayaud's motor vehicle insurance carrier.

CPA preferred.

TRAVEL

Travel will include:

Meetings in the community

Meetings and Conferences in the United States

Other travel as needed

May drive personal vehicle to work locations and will be reimbursed at the federal rate for mileage, refer to employee handbook

ALTERNATIVE WORK PLAN

This position is eligible for an "Alternative Work Plan". Some duties and responsibilities may be conducted outside of the office setting.
