Electrical Project Engineer - Denver, COWestwood Professional Services, Inc.Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team in our Denver, CO office. The position will be a member of our Electrical Engineering group for solar, wind or energy storage plants, which includes; plant layout, selecting appropriate system hardware, system optimization, power production modeling, and interconnection requirements for projects. This individual will support senior designer and engineers in the preparation of construction documents. The position has plenty of opportunity for growth in this fast expanding renewable market. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.Duties and Responsibilities:Construction document production supportCoordinate with various design team disciplines including civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and surveyorsElectrical engineering design of commercial- and utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, and storage)Create wiring/cable schedules based on takeoffs and sizing input from senior designers/engineersModeling and running electrical studies using ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, CYMCAP, and WinIGSMaintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standardsMentorship and training of younger engineers and ability to contribute as a technical resource for the teamRequired SkillsRequired ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related fieldEducation and/or experience with power systems analysis and designLicensed Professional EngineerApproximately 3 - 8 years of experience in the electrical engineering of wind and/or solar facilitiesFunctional experience with power systems modeling software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM Power*Tools, PSSE, PSLF, or similar softwareFunctional experience with routine electrical studies such as ampacity, short circuit, load flow, and reactive powerWorking knowledge of NEC and/or NESCAbility to interface with clients and third parties and to maintain healthy working relationshipsWorking knowledge and ability to read construction drawings and specificationsProficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office productsProfessional appearance with excellent written and verbal communications skillsMust have a strong work ethic along with a positive attitudeMust be a supportive team member, able to work in a collaborative environment, and capable of both leading and followingMust be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlinesFor Preferred Consideration (Not Required):Proficiency with CYMCAP or ETAP for underground cable ampacity analysisExperience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or PLS-CADDExperience with WinIGS or CDEGs grounding analysis softwareExperience with PVsyst, SAM, SunDAT, or other PV production modeling softwareAbout Westwood Professional Services, Inc.
