Mortgage Underwriter
Summary
The Underwriter issues credit decisions based on the documented borrower profile within the guidelines of the program and client requirements. Underwriters will meet the minimum daily production goals and perform within department audit standards.
Essential Functions:
* Perform data Input and analysis of findings in Loan Prospector, Desktop Underwriter, Assetwise, other AUS engines, and OES
* Review of credit reports to determine credit patterns, current liabilities, outstanding judgments and collections.
* Review of residential mortgage appraisal forms 1004, 2055, 2065, 2075, 1025, 1073, 2000, and AVM's.
* Calculate of Loan to Value ratios.
* Analyze income from salaried, commissioned, self-employed, investments, fixed income sources.
* Analyze assets statements for all types of asset accounts.
* Reconcile findings with published guidelines to address/resolve variances.
* Meet department performance standards.
* While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.
* Perform related duties as requested.
Education:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience considered.
Experience:
* At least five (5) years residential underwriting experience.
* Passing score on the underwriting pre hire test.
* Experience with AU systems
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Strong knowledge of basic underwriting skill set (analysis of credit, income, assets, collateral, and guidelines).
* Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally.
* Able to interact with all levels of staff and management.
* Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
* Able to multi-task, problem solve proactively and think creatively.
* High attention to detail.
* Ability to perform according to standards and guidelines.
* Ability to meet licensing requirements (S.A.F.E. Act).
