The Role: Product Owner, Data Management Solutions

Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 9

The Location: Colorado preferred, North America

The Team: Within the S&P Global Market Intelligence organization, we are seeking a Product Owner to join our Data Management Solutions Product team (DMS). The DMS team focuses on defining, managing and supporting workflow solutions that deliver our best-of-breed data to professionals across the markets and segments we serve. This creative team of experts collaborates to drive continuous improvements in product innovation and usability.
As a Product Owner within DMS business, you will be responsible for helping to drive increased client satisfaction and adoption of our delivery platforms by overseeing an agile scrum team responsible for the timely execution of strategic and client-driven initiatives and enhancements. You will also help the team ensure a positive client experience by performing audits and analysis on our delivery platforms, tracking incidents, postmortems and RCA documents to ensure timely resolution, and presenting your findings / make recommendations to Platform Management and Technology on overall reliability.

The Impact: You will achieve these objectives and by working closely with Product Management, our Content and our Information Technology organization partners to ensure alignment and execution. By working across the organization, you will build upon and produce high quality and consistent deliveries that serve an array of customers and ensure the integrity of our platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Scrum Team delivery related activities
  • Work closely with the DMS team, Industry heads and Segment leads to understand project requirements and provide enablement to our delivery platforms
  • Work closely with our clients and our Commercial partners to understand their market data needs and workflows, our competition, and be able to articulate the value proposition of our products
  • Create and maintain user stories and a product backlog that describes the end goals, and demonstrates the value to our client both external and internal
  • Work with multiple groups across the division to gather and refine requirements and translate them to actionable technology goals
  • Prioritization of the product backlog and setting the vision/expectation for the stories within the scrum team
  • Build relationships across senior management and key stakeholders to gain buy in and support for additional product and content initiatives
  • Participate in regular product and dataset reviews to fully engage other groups around the offering
  • Execute technology initiatives with the IT organization by providing functional requirements and data analysis
  • Conduct regular training sessions with stakeholder partners to uprise of project deliverables, and provide relevant updates around product enhancements and releases
What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • BA or BS in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • At least 2 years of product management, technology or related experience including enterprise-wide data initiatives and working with datasets in the financial services industry
  • Proven ability to work with and motivate global teams in a diverse and complex organization to deliver quality results on time
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum or SAFe process
  • Experience understanding and gathering client product requirements
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels within an organization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a product owner/Scrum Master of a SCRUM team
  • Exceptional ability to work in an international multi-cultural environment utilizing effective influencing, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • A highly motivated self-starter; ability to work independently and creatively as well as within a team
  • A high level of client service and communication skills
  • Strong level of computer skills including MS Office proficiency
  • Constructive team player, capable of balancing and prioritizing multiple projects across different teams or business segments
  • Demonstrable experience resolving complex operational problems requiring strategic and innovative solutions
  • Experience developing and/or supporting financial market data services products from concept to commercialization
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $46,200 to $95,900. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus/a sales commission plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
