Salary range: $100,000 - $140,000


What is the role?

This role architects, develops, and maintains front end and back end banking platforms. Acting as the lead developer, you will work closely with Product Owners and UX Designers to put innovative designs and user experiences into motion. At Westerra, we focus on easy to use interfaces and solutions that allow our members to easily access and move their money. The systems that you will work with include online banking, origination systems and employee interfaces.

What will be expected of me?

  • Apply modern frameworks and architectures to business initiatives to help Westerra achieve our Digital Experience goals.
  • Oversee all phases of the development life cycle including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, transition, and support.
  • Document all technical and system specifications.
  • Partner with business owners, product owners, technical SMEs, technology architects, IT specialists, and operations staff to understand appropriate business strategies and objectives and ensue alignment of solutions to be developed.
  • Design and implement processes to support Westerra's front end and back end architectures, including logging, configuration management, and error handling.
  • Participate in business unit meetings sharing ideas, proposing solutions and assisting in clarifying data queries, data analysis, and reports.
  • Design, own and lead in DevOps processes such as code promotion, continuous integration / continuous deployment, and source control.
  • Understand the role API's have in the design and work with API developers to achieve success.

What I'm bringing…

Experience/Education:

6+ years' experience working in an IT development capacity.

4+ years of back end development experience

4+ years of front end development experience

Bachelor degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent years of related development work experience.

English language, written and spoken

Skills and Abilities:

Front end experience:

  • Experience with Javascript (Angular / AngularJS), RxJs, CSS (SASS) and HTML; other modern frameworks like React will be considered
  • Experience with Node and npm, and the Angular CLI would be an advantage in building toolchains
  • You know the ins and outs of effective CI and CD (builds, pipelines, branching strategy) processes in a modular, decomposed architecture
  • Hands-on experience with build systems like Jenkins is a plus
  • Worked with Docker and Kubernetes and Linux

Back end experience

  • Knows how to select the available maven plugin and choose them among a multitude of options to fit their project needs
  • Solves the issues found with the tools like veracode and/or blackduck
  • Knows when to plan for refactor sessions and understand the overall technical debt of the project
  • Easily setup the testing environments and make sure everybody can contribute to the tests
  • Worked with Docker and Kubernetes and Linux
  • Experience using version control systems and how to create branching strategies
  • Can take over when the scrum master is not there
  • Subject matter expert with advanced understanding of functional area and a competent understanding of the overall organization and competitive environment.
  • Proactively negotiates across departments. Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to Learn and demonstrate that learning on the job
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must maintain high-level of confidentiality
  • Can be accountable for managing projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision
  • Acts autonomously on most decisions. Requires guidance on more complex judgments.
