OVERVIEW
Our interns experience a wide range of opportunities during our 10-week virtual or in person summer internship program. We are looking for candidates who have an interest in the financial services industry and bring with them enthusiasm and passion for working in a fast-paced, growth-centric environment.
Each intern will be paired with a manager, mentor, and executive sponsor for the summer and present on a summer project. Interns will interact with senior leadership. This is a 40-hour a week role and is a paid position.
Interested candidates should be rising juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The internship begins Tuesday, May 31st and concludes Friday, August 5th.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent writing and editing skills, knowledge of grammar and proofing necessary
- Working knowledge of PC environment and high competency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and aptitude to quickly learn other systems / software
- Analytical - can systematically gather relevant information, interprets various types of data, and apply logic to solving problems and making decisions with fast turnaround times
- Strong partnership skills with an ability to work collaboratively within a team and develop solid working partnerships with colleagues
- Project management and organizational skills required with attention to detail and accuracy
- See intern project to conclusion
- Follow processes and procedures and makes recommendations on improvements to close gaps, shorten turn times, or improve outcomes
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently or within a group
- Proactively asks questions and seeks help in order to successfully achieves goals and objectives while in an autonomous environment
- Approaches work with a sense of curiosity
- Works with a customer service mindset and is comfortable providing input to achieve goals
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management:
- Work for the Director of Strategic Initiatives, a team responsible for communicating and implementing initiatives that develop internal and external relationships
- Create and update organizational maps that outline who does what across the Workplace Solutions organization
- Create recommendations on what Empower's executive sponsor program should be
- Understand the Empower engagement model and implement ways to track progress
Leadership and execution:
- Present to leadership the findings / outcomes of the above summer project
- Learn about the retirement industry and Empower's administration practices
- Demonstrate our core values of "doing the right thing, owning it, leading, simplifying, and collaborating"
- Participate in mini rotations with other departments of the intern's choosing
Manage drivers and components that determine outcomes:
- Prioritize and focus on individual tasks to meet concurrent deadlines
- Push and pull specific content through the approval pipeline
- Urgently respond and properly escalate errors or concerns
Ownership and advocacy:
- Establish trusted and positive working relationships with team and internal stakeholders
- Excel at delivering service and consultative input to achieve goals
Support team members, volunteer to help, show initiative, and positively impact team dynamics and morale

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
