Western Colorado University invites applications for a tenure-track position in exercise and sport science at the assistant professor level.
Duties: Teaching responsibilities are focused across broad areas of exercise and sport science and K-12 physical education. Expertise and teaching experience in the following areas are desirable: foundations of exercise and sport science, skill development and analysis, inclusive physical activity, methods of secondary activities, curriculum development and the learning environment, assessment & technology in physical education, and coordinated school health and physical activity programs. Responsibilities include teaching 24 semester credits per year, academic advising, college service, and scholarly activity. Qualifications: Doctorate required. ABD will be considered for appointment, and doctorate is required for tenure. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. Preference given to those candidates who can also teach the following courses: nutrition for wellness and performance, biomechanics, and program design for physical activity settings. Experience in student recruitment/retention and supervision of undergraduate student research is highly desired. Ability to work closely with colleagues in a small, student-centered undergraduate program is critical. Working with existing faculty to develop programming associated with the Center for Wellness & Human Performance is expected. Candidates should have a vision for professional activity (research, writing, professional involvement, fundraising).
Additional Application Information: SALARY: Salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 per year depending upon qualifications. This faculty position is eligible for an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance plans with low co-pays and low out of pocket maximums, a shared contribution retirement plan and, after one year of employment, dependent tuition benefits.
