Job description
**Data Scientist (time-series data expertise)**
**100% Remote**
Our client is a software company dedicated to unlocking the power of domain knowledge and AI to create a more efficient, safe and sustainable industrial automation industry. The client's Intelligent Control Software Platform enables customers to transform their legacy operations into self-optimizing systems using AI-driven intelligent automation applications.
As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to research, analyze, and solve interesting challenges on a daily basis. You will contribute in a significant way to the future of the client's products and their strategic development.
**Role & Responsibilities**
As a Data Scientist, you will directly add value to our customers by developing, testing, and deploying machine learning models that help solve challenges around (a) Equipment Fault Prediction and/or (b) Event Detection from time-series data and subsequent workflow automation. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of control engineers and subject matter experts to scope, design, build and deploy said machine learning models. You will play a significant role in executing proof of concepts (POCs), by leveraging your expertise in building Machine Learning models, thereby acting as a key resource for both customers and internal teams.
**Your main responsibilities will be:**
+ Get up to speed on the domain model that underlies the model development landscape
+ Define the scope of machine learning models across industrial and manufacturing settings by working closely with internal and customer subject matter experts, while basing the solution on the templates from underlying domain model
+ Build usable, explainable models operating on time-series data, that solve real world problems by implementing different modeling approaches based on data availability.
+ Scope of model development activities include amongst other items: time-series feature extraction from historical data, representing labeled
time-series snapshots (or labeled events) as a function of extracted features, using simple models to mine events from time-series data that resemble labeled data,
+ Improve generalization ability of models using deep learning for event detection once sufficient labeled data is present
+ Manage the performance of models through their evolution from explicitly engineered feature-based to deep-learning based
+ Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
+ Help shape data science strategy, solution definition, & internal/ external capability roadmaps
**Qualifications**
+ Masters degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience; PhD preferred
+ Have end-to-end machine modeling experience i.e. data engineering, data wrangling, feature extraction, model fitting, model deployment and support.
+ Have a **high level of proficiency with time-series data** in terms of:
+ Time series data analysis,
+ Time series feature extraction
+ used sktime, tsfresh, tslearn, to extract patterns / features from time series data
+ Temporal data mining
+ Strong programming skills in python along with understanding of agile methodologies
+ Comfortable working with source version-control systems, APIs and command-line interfaces
+ Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to simplify complex constraints
+ Time-management and prioritization - you are comfortable simultaneously working across many projects, both collaboratively across diverse teams (including customer-facing and internal teams) and self-starting initiatives
+ Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and self-driven learning
**Bonus if you have experience in:**
+ Experience in dealing with digital signal processing transforms (e.g. from background like Digital Communications, Biomedical signal processing, etc)
+ Experience collaborating with a globally distributed development team
+ Knowledge & understanding of industrial operations
