Job description

Overview:

Kaman is searching for an experienced Senior Application Developer to join our Application Management team in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The Senior Application Developer will work with a team of developers to support current system functionality and make necessary modifications to complex applications to support changing business requirements. They will utilize manufacturing experience to assist in the design, creation, deployment and maintenance of business applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to production systems by addressing complex issues, anticipating maintenance requirements and ensuring functionality for end user needs.

Collaborate with business partners and the business relationship management team to address business problems and provide scalable solutions by leveraging technology platforms & solutions

Resolve incidents within established SLAs.

Understand the application data and how it relates to manufacturing transactions to fulfill inquiry requests related to application functionality.

Maintain application's data integrity and accuracy within the database.

Analyze and prepare specifications and documentation according to department standards to meet company goals and objectives.

Review computer system capabilities to determine if request is possible. Recommend alternative path/process to achieve an acceptable solution when appropriate.

Establish and maintain effective communication with users, functional departments to facilitate problem identification and resolution.

Track progress on delivery of features to the customer and addressing any business issues that arise during the development or testing process

Follow SDLC process (design, development, debugging, functional testing, develop test plans, change review and approval, deployment)

Performs configuration, setup, and updating of applications, including table definitions and access control.

Provide estimates, report status of assigned tasks and actual resource consumption. Effective and productive time-management skills are required.

Responsible for features backlog grooming, cross track prioritization and delivery to production environment

Present technical ideas and solutions to Application Management Director

Lead small projects

Qualifications:
SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Strong Analytical skills with the ability to understand business data and business processes related to manufacturing.

Ability to understand complex business problems and offer meaningful solutions.

Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently, in a highly collaborative environment with other Application Developers.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be customer focused.

High degree of productivity and skill in testing, troubleshooting, and problem solving.

Experience working with clients or stakeholders to elicit requirements, define user experience needs, help design solutions, effectively document and communicate requirements to the technical team and then assist with testing and launch coordination.

Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills

Creative thinking and problem solving with ability to work on multiple projects at a time

Experience with Open VMS & DCL (VAX, Alpha or Itanium).

Experience with Cobol/VAX COBOL.

Experience with IBI FOCUS 4GL language.

Understanding and knowledge of RMS file structures.

Experience debugging, documenting and software deployment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Ability to travel if necessary.

Must be discreet; position involves routine exposure to confidential data of major importance, which if disclosed, may be detrimental to the company's interest.

Position includes providing off hour business application support

Must report hours and status accurately and on time.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 7+ Years of relevant technical applications experience

5 Years of analysis / programming experience

Manufacturing industry experience
