Job description
Entegris is looking for an energetic and experienced Synthetic Chemist to support the research and development of new molecules in the Surface Prep and Integration (SPI) R&D group in Danbury, CT.
In this role the successful candidate will support the synthesis and development of new molecules for Selective Etch, post CMP cleans, CMP slurries, and Post Etch Residue Removal applications. The chemist will be responsible for synthesis of novel molecules, discovery of new synthetic strategies, purification of molecules, and development of relevant metrology/characterization methods. The position involves synthesis of inorganic and organic molecules, and the candidate should have a strong synthesis background.
In this role you will
- Synthesize, purify, characterize molecules independently or as part of a collaborative team from the single gram to 1 KG scale
- Work with other teams to enable scale up at HVM site of any selected molecules
- Document results in lab notebooks and IP in the relevant systems; document inventions and generate ideas around new molecules and products
- Characterize materials generated by small molecule characterization techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, thermal analysis, and other analytical techniques as needed
- On time delivery of solutions to SPI projects to enable Entegris to win process of record at customers
- Development and optimization for efficient workflows and/or metrics to meet project requirement and scale up
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities in synthesis program within SPI and business unit groups as needed to grow the program
Traits we believe make a strong candidate
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry preferred or a similar area of study preferably with 2-5 years industrial synthesis experience
- Strong background and/or experience in synthetic chemistry of surfactants, alkoxysilanes, polymers, corrosion inhibitors, or solvents preferred
- Expertise and hands-on experience preferred with handling of air sensitive materials using Schlenk-line techniques and inert atmosphere gloveboxes
- Expertise and hands on experience preferred with the characterization of molecules via NMR spectroscopy, working knowledge of thermal analysis, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, reaction calorimetry, and other relevant analytical methods
- Demonstrated problem solving and desire to improve systems, methods, products, and scaling up products
- Ability to operate and communicate in a global environment and cross functional/business unit teams
- Flexibility and ability to prioritize to meet business needs
- Project leadership responsibilities over development, optimization, and production of synthesis projects with attention to safety, cost, and efficiencies
- A demonstrated, strong track record of publications and/or patents
- Ability to travel 10% of time, domestic and international
