Job description

The Human Resource Intern will be assigned a variety of projects to support Human Resources as well as provide developmental opportunities for the Human Resource Intern. The Human Resource Intern will interface with internal personnel in the plant and office and some external vendors as needed. An emphasis on professionally and confidentiality supporting the needs of the employee population.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in day to day Human Resource responsibilities professionally and confidentially.
  • Assist in the recruiting process:
    • Perform phone screens
    • Administer pre-employment testing
    • Schedule interviews
    • Assist in preparing offer letters
  • Assist in the employee onboarding process, administering and processing new hire documentation and new hire orientations.
  • Actively participate in the performance management process. Coordinates performance reviews for all hourly and salaried employees, distributing monthly review reminders.
  • Provide documentation necessary for Exit Interviews and may be required to conduct the Exit Interview or attend as a witness. Complete documentation necessary for exiting employees, ensuring uniforms and company property are returned, employee is notified of rights under COBRA.
  • Maintains documentation and filing of personnel files, recognizing the types of information that does not belong in a personnel file.
  • Assist with requests from outside authorities such as unemployment/department of labor, workers compensation, EEO, and Veterans' Affairs.
  • Assist with documentation for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), Short Term and Long Term Disability for qualified employees, maintain information in personnel files as applicable.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must perform in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Currently enrolled in Human Resource discipline at an accredited university/college
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Possess a good work ethic and be efficient in job duties
