Job description
We are partnering with a client that is hiring an HR Generalist to join a lean, collaborative, service- oriented team at their headquarters in Enfield, CT. This person will have the opportunity to lead a variety of HR-related projects and initiatives. The HR Generalist role will be far from one-dimensional. You'll undertake a wide range of HR tasks, like payroll processing, administering employee benefits and working with all levels of the organization. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a welcoming and exciting workplace for employees. The ideal candidate brings expertise in building trusting relationships with all employees. Looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves - whose ready to jump in and do what it takes to support people, operations and programs!
Responsibilities
- Coaching, training and providing sound guidance to Management on best ways to drive performance management, employee development and employee engagement matters.
- Act as the main point of contact for employee inquiries on HR-related topics such as payroll, benefits, 401k and leave programs such as but not limited to FMLA, CT State Leave and Disability.
- Performs payroll-related functions including but not limited to biweekly payroll processing, auditing and HRIS maintenance.
- Responsible for managing, maintaining and administering all benefit programs and annual renewal and open enrollment.
- Coordination of annual activities like performance appraisals, promotions and salary review process.
- Supports the recruitment process by posting jobs, editing job descriptions, creating requisitions and interviewing candidates.
- Owns the onboarding processes for all hires to include candidate correspondence, scheduling orientations & file creation.
- Processes all new hires, changes and terminations in a timely manner and communicates with the appropriate internal/external stakeholders.
- Conducts exit interviews for all exiting staff. Coordinates the overall offboarding process in collaboration with Management.
- Preparation of various governmental reports and filings.
- Maintains knowledge of current Federal, State and Local laws and ordinances as well as maintaining internal HR policies, processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business or related field required. SHRM or similar certification a plus!
- 5+ years in HR Generalist capacity, specifically within a small business in the service industry.
- Proficient skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Prior HR Systems experience required. Experience with HRIS conversions a huge plus!
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organization and uncertainty management skills with all levels of an organization.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize.
- Must be able to perform duties with a high level of confidentiality.
- Adept collaboration skills with a drive to initiate and complete various tasks. Roll up your sleeves mentality, ability to insert self where needed.
- Strong understanding of HR labor law, policies, practices, employment and employee relations.
- Able to develop strong internal relationships and client relationships in person and virtually.
- Have a passion for people - enjoy looking for ways to improve and step-up quality and level of service.
