Job Description:

The Defense Health Operation of Leidos is seeking a Technical Writer to support our operations at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate shall:

  • Work closely with the Command Cadre, Science and Technical Directors to support the creation of documents describing unit and technical data.

  • Write and/or edit technical reports, publication manuscripts, presentations, and other Command-required documentation.

  • Collaborate with principal investigators, content owners and Subject Matter Experts on the review and updating of publications and technical reports.

  • Provide and update Command Guides for official visiting personnel or human research subjects.

  • Edit, validate and proofread reports for distribution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of technical writing experience.

  • Advanced computer literacy, Microsoft Office proficiency are required.

  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to interact and effectively communicate both written and orally with a wide variety of people.

  • Due to Federal contracting requirements, candidates must be US Citizens.

  • The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.

  • Skills should include a foundational and theoretical understanding of general scientific principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, etc. is highly desired.

  • Experience in a human subject research setting and experience in the US federal government system is highly desired.
