We invite you to become part of Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network.The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system.Biomedical Engineering / Business System AnalystPosition Summary: Participates in the design, development and on-going production support of the department's own information systems which may integrate throughout the hospital enterprise to provide business solutions to customers which will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department's service delivery. This position reports to System Director of Biomedical Engineering. Supports the present and expanding biomedical technological needs of the hospital by utilizing analytical, communication and managerial skills in order to improve and advance patient care. Analyst will be the primary administrator for the management and development of accurate biomedical device inventory, audit staff documentation, and develop workflow processes to maintain data integrity. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and managers to manage medical device documentation across the Healthcare System.Accountabilities:

  • Run, maintain, and build various department systems including the HHC Biomedical Engineering medical device maintenance database (CMMS).
  • Work with local technicians and engineers to perform data validation and improve existing data integrity as an on-going initiative.
  • Collaborates with Information Services teams to ensure developed department systems are compatible with overall Hospital systems requirements, standard and hardware specifications.
  • Provides systems support to staff by maintaining departments hardware/software availability, educating and training staff in the systems application and supporting report production to ensure requests are being met. May recognize abnormal reporting patterns and initiate corrective action where required and within scope of knowledge and expertise.
  • Works collaboratively as a team member with user groups both within and across the hospital system; shares resources, information, tools and ideas that improve the department's services.
  • Initiates self-development by maintaining a high degree of business function knowledge and current technologies and seeks opportunities to educate end-users and peers to promote a continuous learning environment.
  • May develop appropriate linkage by integrating department systems with other systems to ensure efficiency and facilitate flow of information across the hospital enterprise.
  • Troubleshoots and problem solves systems by providing 24 hour accountability in order to respond in a rapid manner in order for users to meet their business needs.
  • Standardize, Create and Educate on Standard Processes for Documentation
  • Audit data entry of users.
  • Incorporate LEAN processes to develop medical equipment data management strategies.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage ongoing equipment standardization processes.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital data base systems in order to increase departmental efficiency and to ensure compliance with state, federal and JCAHO regulations.
  • Facilitate an effort to train, coach and/or mentor department technicians to maintain data integrity.
  • Analyzes department needs, translates requirements into program design; develops, tests and implements creative solutions to ensure the department meets long and short term goals and business objectives
Skills:
  • Communication skills with a variety of end-users (i.e. administrators, engineers, technicians)
  • Proficiency in organizing and facilitating meetings and presentations to various levels of the organization.
  • Previous hospital and medical device experience preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who can align short term goals with long term strategies.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Sciences and/or Biomedical Engineering or 7 - 9 years of relevant experience.
  • 3-5 Years relevant information systems experience.
  • Preferably has hospital environment experience.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills.
