Summary:

Directs financial activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises and trains accounting staff, ensuring transactions are processed in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Ensures all related accounting entries are completed by the second business day subsequent to month end

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the monthly financial statements, including (1) the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers or account support documents to the general ledger (2) the identification and explanation of actual vs. budget revenue or expense fluctuations (3) the preparation and accuracy of various financial management related reports.

Responsible to lead and develop annual budget for agency in accordance with company policies

Partners with local Agency President and Department Managers to ensure proper internal controls are maintained, along with providing financial support associated with monthly financial results and forecasting.

Maintains the Agency management system from an accounting perspective.

Manages accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensures that company policy is properly enforced.

Responds to internal and external customer information requests in a timely and appropriate manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Assists in the development and implementation of goals, priorities, policies and procedures relating to the accounting department.

Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to document receipts and expenditures.

Responsible for maintaining and identifying improvements to improve the overall internal control environment to assist in preventing and detecting errors from occurring, safeguarding the Agency's assets.

Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required and 3 to 5 years insurance related experience and/or training preferred.
