Description

The Development Officer will report to the Director of Planned and Major Giving creating a funnel of prospects who can be cultivated for planned and major gifts. This position will serve as a training ground for the incumbent to develop the skills to become a major gift officer and development professional. While the primary focus is major and planned gifts, the incumbent will have the opportunity to be cross trained in other areas of fundraising and development as part of the staff of the Office of Charitable Giving. Opportunities for advancement are present for the right individual.

Core Responsibilities

  • Research major gift prospects from the CRM database and other tools. Pass along actionable relationships to the Director of Planned and Major Giving
  • Contact prospects via phone and email to determine desire for a conversation
  • Steward donors who are determined to be "major donors" through the donor journey
  • Work collaboratively with the staff of the Office of Charitable Giving Development and departments within the K of C
  • Manage the rollout of giving societies for the K of C and the Saint JPII National Shrine
  • Support the events and programs of the Office of Charitable Giving
  • Collaborate on other initiatives that may develop through a growing philanthropic program.

Skill Qualifications

Required:

  • Fundraising or sales background
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both written and spoken communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong interpersonal skillsand a
  • Working knowledge of the Knights of Columbus.


Preferred:2 years + in fundraising for higher-ed or a membership organization

Education and Experience Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree

Preferred: CFRE accreditation (in progress) or other professional certifications in fundraising

Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs (infrequently)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a majority of the workday.
