Overview
Location: New London Corps (New London, CT)
Hours Per Week: 25
Schedule: Mon-Fri; 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm and Sun; 10:00 am -12:30 pm
Scope & Purpose of Position: To invest in the lives of children and younger adults, developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities. To conduct an ongoing evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing children, teens, and young adults to Jesus Christ. To provide an environment and ministry opportunities in which children, teens, and younger adults can grow and mature in their faith and grow into a walk of holiness. To provide leadership and help to develop the music and arts programs at the Corps.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with Christmas ministry such as; processing applications, organizing, and driving.
+ Assist with driving for programs and Sunday services, including picking up and dropping off of program participants.
+ Attend and chaperone Corps, Divisional, and Territorial retreats and events as instructed .
+ Conduct a summer Vaction Bible School outreach in the park program - multiple weeks at different locations.
+ Conduct weekly teen worship times and assist with Teen Nights.
+ Develop and implement an evangelism training program for teens and younger adults.
+ Develop and maintain a mentoring and visitation program within the Corps for teens and younger adults.
+ Develop and maintain a new or traditional Salvation Army ministries to facilitate the enhancement of the healthy spiritual formation and discipleship of children, teens, and younger adults.
+ Develop and maintain an active recruitment and training program for youth ministry volunteers within the local Corps.
+ Develop and maintain contacts with young adults/teens at local college/high school campuses, where permitted.
+ Develop and maintain practical approaches to building solid Christian living among the children, teens, and younger adults.
+ Develop and maintain programs and ministries to enhance a healthy spiritual, physical, and emotional development of program participants.
+ Disseminate information regarding community resources available to children, teens, younger adults, and their guardians.
+ Facilitate and oversee an academic reinforcement (homework help) component of the afterschool youth program.
+ Teach a Sunday School class and assist with Sunday School openings.
Qualifications
+ A degree in Youth Ministry or related field, graduate of Railton School, and/or equivalent experience.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license.
+ Self-motivated and strong communication skills.
+ Understand and uphold The Salvation Army doctrine.
+ Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
