Job Title: Scientist II / III
Location: Ridgefield, CT
Duration: 24 Months

Job Description:
Description : The main responsibility of this Scientist II/III is to provide expertise and knowledge in the area of protein purification, specifically focusing on purification of monoclonal antibodies and multi-specific molecules. This individual will provide technical insight and support to multiple project teams. Experience with multiple types of purification chromatography is highly advantageous. Experience with Biotherapeutics and a good understanding of drug discovery is considered a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform scientific experiments that contribute to core group/research goals and reflect expert knowledge in development of biological drugs and in the area of protein biochemistry / protein purification and characterization related to the development of biological drugs.
• Participate as an APEX representative on multiple project teams and aid in defining and prioritizing departmental aspects of project issues and goals.
• Prepare and communicate data in posters, technical reports, scientific publications and/or oral presentations. Deliver updates to management in context of overall project goals.
• Maintain scientific excellence in area of protein biochemistry/protein purification and characterization. Develop broad knowledge in field of expertise, including the ability to interpret current literature relevant to R&D projects
• Comply with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Scientist II Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with two-plus (2+) years of experience in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline or Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline

Scientist III Requirements:

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline
• Ability to act while a supervisor is in his/her absence

Requirements for both levels:

• Provide and apply expertise in protein purification techniques. Demonstrate additional scientific knowledge of projects and understand technology beyond protein purification
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge in the field of biology and biochemistry (SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, HPLC, protein characterization, aggregation, glycosylation, generic protein analysis)
• Ability to multi-task and organize multiple experiments simultaneously
• Ability to work in team-oriented environment
• Ability to troubleshoot
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing in a local and international inter-disciplinary environment
• Must be highly motivated and an independent performer
• Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus
• Experience and knowledge with antibody and multi-specific molecules preferred
