Job Overview:
- W. Norton is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and intelligent individual to join the fully remote team supporting Norton's digital products. The Business Analyst will join a first-rate team of project managers, business analysts, UX designers, engineers, and QA analysts to create exceptional products for Norton's customers. The Business Analyst will collect, refine, and document requirements in accordance with project or application needs. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, eager to learn, and able to work independently. This position reports to the Director of Project Management.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
- Gather, analyze, and define product and project requirements
- Elicit functional requirements from cross-functional stakeholders (across marketing, sales and editorial within each publishing group) throughout the project lifecycle
- Communicate requirements to development teams, track follow-through, and maintain projects throughout the SDLC
- Refine user stories created by Product Managers (Product Owner) or stakeholders and create well-formed new user stories (as necessary)
- Create acceptance criteria for user stories to define features and expectations for deliverables
- Review UI spec and complete gap analysis
- Translate business objectives into functional requirements
- Probe to ensure requirements meet overarching product goals
- Compile and maintain technical requirements, artifacts, and diagrams
- Member of the scrum team and point of contact for requirements questions during an active sprint
- Act as liaison between stakeholders, the development team, the design team, and the QA team
- Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders, engineers, QA analysts and designers
- Support the Project Manager and Product Manager in maintaining and refining the product backlog
- Interact with the Project Manager and Product Manager in planning and scoping requirements
- Collaborate with designers, Project Manager and Product Manager in planning requirements gathering sessions and workshops (both in-person and virtually)
- Think out of the box in terms of suggesting alternative strategies to follow, methods to attempt, and ways to more effectively engage stakeholders
- Help identify dependencies, working closely with the Project Manager and Product Manager
- Work with Quality Assurance team to review test cases, test scenarios and overall test plans
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure good testing coverage is achieved
- Facilitate feasibility analysis of requirements in consultation with the Technical Lead and developers
- Lead user story grooming sessions to discuss the requirements, size stories, and answer scrum team questions
- Participate and prepare for backlog grooming and sprint planning sessions
- Work with the Product Manager on defining, preparing, facilitating, and comping results for UAT
- Responsible for owning and maintaining internal documentation to define business rules
- Responsible for understanding and communicating expected behavior
- Responsible for performing system analysis and maintaining technical knowledge
- Act as product expert for the team
- Provide recommendations and analyses to Product Manager, Project Manager and Director of Project Management
- Work closely with the entire product management team in the efforts to document, train, and support internal and external users of digital products
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree

- Ability to adapt to different team styles and dynamics while maintaining standards for deliverables
- Knowledge of the publishing industry and the educational technology market (preferable)
