Summary:

Looking for a great career opportunity where you can change the world? The Development Director works with the entire chapter team to ensure that fundraising and non-fundraising priorities of JDRF grow through increased corporate, family and volunteer involvement. Remote work is possible depending on location but the position must be based within the chapter footprint (Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC).

The Development Director is responsible for driving the strategic direction, management, and financial growth for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter's Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising efforts, including the JDRF One Walks and The Ride to Cure Diabetes program. The Development Director holds relationships with key donors and volunteers, including the chapter's ride team and walk families, as well as corporate entities. The Director is responsible for developing volunteer leadership structures within each P2P program. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, and in partnership with the National Walk and Ride Teams and volunteer leadership, the Development Director oversees the $1.6 million P2P program fundraising goal.

The Development Director leads a staff of two (2) to oversee the efforts for the JDRF P2P programs. This includes building a pipeline for and securing a Corporate One Walk Chair, supervising a JDRF One Walk portfolio of 400+ corporate and family teams, overseeing the Ride program and helping to drive growth opportunities, driving corporate sponsorship engagement and marketing opportunities, cultivating, and stewarding volunteers, managing expenses and forecasting revenues, and overseeing event logistics for both programs.

In addition, this position is responsible for a variety of comprehensive development functions that correspond to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors. The Development Director maintains and grows a personal portfolio of business critical to the chapter's success.

Responsibilities:

Leadership responsibility for integrating, coordinating, leveraging and expanding a comprehensive revenue portfolio at the Mid-Atlantic Chapter:

* Serves as a key member of the chapter team, with primary responsibility in implementing the P2P program development strategy for the chapter.
* Supervises staff including contributing to staffing decisions and staff evaluations. Provides ongoing growth and development by motivating, developing, and directing staff as they work to achieve JDRF and chapter priorities.
* Collaborates with an outstanding team of local staff as well as national staff resources to ensure chapter core fundraising revenue targets are achieved.
* Formulates, implements, and leads strategies and tactics for chapter fundraising and development activities in the P2P program specifically to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas and opportunities for expansion where appropriate.
* Manages a portfolio of constituents and leads efforts for high-level donor cultivation and engagement plans that result in giving and chapter engagement.
* Identifies and develops new business with both existing donors as well as new prospects and provides excellent donor relationship management to key chapter stakeholders.
* Meets registration and fundraising goals for Walk and Ride teams.
* Provides fundraising coaching expertise to assigned portfolio focusing on fundraising best practices and tactics.
* Avidly utilizes CRM platform (Salesforce) to track portfolio and moves management progress.
* Provides frequent financial input including budget building, updates, forecasts, and revenue reports.
* Recruits, manages, and continually develops donors and volunteers. Provides leadership, cultivation, acknowledgement, material support, and assistance in building and implementing annual plans around volunteer leadership.
* Develops and actively manages a communications plan to engage and steward all participants utilizing email, phone calls, texting, etc.
* Drives the development and execution of marketing and promotional plans for all P2P programs to help identify new prospects for the P2P programs and MAC Chapter.
* Identifies, builds, and stewards relationships with community, philanthropic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development.
* Supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF.
* Communicates and sets expectations clearly and appropriately.
* Establishes and maintains departmental and organization-wide policies and procedures and supports regional and national directives.
* Represents the best interests, professionalism, and integrity of JDRF in all activities and relationships through a unified message of the JDRF mission and a commitment to organizational standards and leadership by personal example.
* Supports other fundraising events, chapter activities and programs as assigned.
