Job Summary:

In this role, engineers are responsible for implementing automation solutions that help increase the speed of our ability to deliver features to production while working with other DevOps Engineers at SelectQuote. The DevOps Engineer III would serve as the primary SME on AWS services while contributing architecture decisions for our ongoing growth. We would like the individual in this role to be proactive in addressing code and identifying the extension of project timelines, to ensure all is up to complete SQ standards.

Essential Functions:

Document solutions to issues and communicate across teams
Lead by example through demonstration of high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, teamwork, reliability, productivity, and execution
Provide expertise and architecture level decisions to business stakeholders, developers, and teammates
Serve as an escalation point and mentor to teammates for troubleshooting and growth opportunities
Plan recovery testing and mitigation strategies with teams and ensure their documentation and implementation
Implement AWS Best Practices and provide guidance on incoming features that benefit the business
Serve as the primary SME on AWS services while contributing architecture decisions for our ongoing growth

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

5-7 years of technical experience in either development, operations, or full-stack implementations
Minimum 5-7 years experience with AWS
At least 3-5 years experience in a DevOps structured environment
Expertise with Linux or Windows command-line utilities
Deep understanding of the core suite of AWS Services, including new features
Expertise in establishing and employing Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins, bitbucket, git or other CI tools
Frequent and comfortable use of configuration management automation tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform
Flexibility learning new modalities to solve problems
Expert with automation tools and practices
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform

Training & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
Solid understanding of Javascript, Docker, Python, Bash, GitHub, Jenkins, and JIRA
AWS Certified Associate (Solutions Architect, Sys Ops, Developer) or 5+ years experience in AWS
5+ years successful engagements providing continuous delivery solutions, preferable
