The Democratic Attorneys General Association provides political and policy support to Democratic State Attorneys General in their mission to protect citizens, promote progress, and support civil rights.

Salary Range: $140,000-160,000

Purpose:

The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) seeks to hire a Finance Director to strengthen and grow our national fundraising operations. The Finance Director will be responsible for advancing a robust portfolio of fundraising partnerships including corporate, labor groups, nonprofits, major donors, and digital fundraising. We are looking for an accomplished fundraiser with a proven record of meeting fundraising goals, strong staff development skills, and political campaign experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Forge new relationships and solidify existing ones to maximize the organization's visibility, impact, and financial resources
  • Serve as a lead fundraiser for the organizations, focused on donor prospecting, cultivating new donors and funding relationships, and making direct solicitations
  • Oversee the Business Council program and ensures that accurate, timely, and appropriate communication with all donors is the standard within the fundraising team, that commitment of benefits of membership to all donors is fulfilled, regularly updates content and tone of message included within donor solicitations and acknowledgments, and responds to donor inquiries quickly and professionally.
  • Provide and manage fundraising projections and reports in a timely manner to share with the Executive and Deputy Executive director
  • Ensure that fundraising events are designed to maximize the net revenue generated and work with the Events Director to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Successfully represent DAGA in public meetings with current and potential donors as well as at quarterly events
  • Required work on some evenings and weekends for fundraising events

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8+ years of political fundraising and strategic experience
  • Campaign experience is a big bonus but not required
  • Worked with and grew a portfolio of donors ranging from $25,000-$1,000,000
  • Donor relationship management and strong knowledge of stakeholders across the country
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, particularly in the development of proposals, individual donors and corporate community
  • Commitment to a broader understanding of educating the public on the work of Attorneys General and DAGA
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Results-oriented with a proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines and objectives
  • Project management skills that enable the juggling of multiple tasks, allocating and optimizing resources, and managing timelines
  • Strong personal management style with a proven commitment and ability to grow, mentor and foster junior level staff development
  • Sense of humor and positive attitude with your team, DAGA staff and AG's
  • Commitment to DAGA's mission

Closing:

  • DAGA's office is open 9 AM - 6 PM Eastern, but extended and nontraditional work hours are required.
  • DAGA offices are in downtown DC but are currently three days required in the office due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DAGA can currently accommodate remote work, although the position will be DC-based once DAGA reopens its office.
  • DAGA will work with potential candidates to schedule remote interviews and process onboarding procedures remotely, as necessary.
