Job description
The Team: Within FIN, the Investments Group manages the Bank's liquid assets portfolio and other funds entrusted to the IDB and provides related capacity building and advisory services to our clients, including innovative investment solutions, working closely in partnership with other areas of the IDB Group.
What you'll do: As part of a hard-working team in the Finance Department, you will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Investments. The functions of the position will span the following areas:
Developing and implementing portfolio strategies, and executing trades in the high-grade fixed income universe within established Bank policies and guidelines. Incumbent will be responsible for negotiating the investment of the Bank's liquid holdings of dollars and other currencies as assigned with commercial banks and securities dealers in global markets.
Conduct fundamental analysis and overall due diligence within assigned sectors for the evaluation of prospective investments leading to a final investment decision. Incumbent will also monitor, assess relative value, and manage existing positions.
Collaborate with other Investment Officers and analysts to develop investment strategies for all portfolios and portfolio construction within assigned sectors.
Working with Finance and Risk peers, conduct research and analysis of investment sectors and counterparties.
Generate, develop, and lead new investment initiatives within the Bank's risk appetite and objectives.
Work alongside multidisciplinary working groups (including other Finance areas, Risk, and IT) to continuously enhance the Bank's investment management activities.
Create and maintain strong relationships with external peers and counterparties.
What you'll need:
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Education: You hold a master's degree (or the equivalent) in Finance, or other quantitative field of study. CFA or similar financial certification is required. CFA may be considered in lieu of a master's degree, provided the candidate holds a bachelor's degree in the above-mentioned fields.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience with at least three (3) years multi-currency, Investment, Banking, Capital Markets, Fixed Income Securities and Derivatives treasury operations experience. Experience with international markets, foreign exchange market, and capital markets software preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English and in a second language of the Bank (Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French) is required.
