Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Consulting and Labor Relations provides professional human resources support to the Human Resource Consultants and coordination in core areas of employee-labor relations, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, employee training and development and project management. In conjunction with the JHH/JHHS Human Resources, provides services to support implementing and managing human resources programs and initiatives and for resolving human resources related issues at the department level. Serves as liaison between the department and JHH/JHHS Human Resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee Labor Relations:
Serves as resource and support for Human Resource Consultants in regards to employee relations issues, policy interpretation and grievances.
- Knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission HR standards, HR and payroll processes, including career services, compensation, benefits, pension, employee labor relations, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, training and development, record keeping and compliance.
- Working knowledge of applicable Federal and State labor and employment laws and regulations.
- Disseminates information and coordinates communication to staff and management about policies and programs such as workplace violence, sexual harassment, and affirmative action.
- Serves as either first point of contact or liaison to the Human Resource Consultants for employee relations issues, and partners with JHH/JHHS Human Resources to resolve issues or formal grievances.
- Conducts exit interviews; analyzes and trend data, and recommends to Human Resource Consultants appropriate actions, plans and/or programs.
Training and Employee Development:
Partners with Training Department and JHH/JHHS Human Resources ODT to deliver departmental training and employee development initiatives:
- Coordinates training opportunities and facilitates departmental scheduling/coverage to enable employee attendance at training and development sessions.
- Coordinates and acts as departmental Service Excellence representative.
Administration and Special Projects:
- Participates with Human Resource Consultant team projects to effectively integrate and develop HR processes, programs and practices into business operations.
- Represents department on human resources-related committees and organization wide human resources initiatives.
- Maintain department reports; support Human Resource Consultants through IT applications such as HR Acuity program.
- Participate in Grievances as needed such as preparation; communication and scheduling.
Competencies:
A. Education:
- Work requires a bachelor's degree in business administration/human resources or a related discipline. Applicable work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
- PHR/SPHR Certification helpful.
B. Knowledge:
- Work requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of human resources management, policies and procedures, and the ability to effectively interpret, apply and communicate such information appropriately.
- Must possess working knowledge of all Federal and State regulations pertaining to Human Resources.
C. Skills:

D. Work Experience:
- At least 5 years of human resource experience with three years of human resources generalist experience preferred.
- Experience in healthcare/customer-intense environment preferred.
