IT Systems Server Administrator

Description:

Seeking a qualified IT Administrator engineer to work in supporting server, workstation, and related software applications. The IT Administrator is expected to deliver excellent customer service to the business, exhibiting competencies of a leader and leading through positive influence. This role requires a deep understanding and experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows virtual servers, software, applications, WAN/LAN networks, desktops, and printers. In addition, the qualified candidate will focus efforts on planning, forecasting, and implementing new system hardware and software including the retirement of existing systems and components. These tasks also include maintaining backup systems to server and application resources. The ideal candidate must be self-directed and a fast learner who enjoys a fast-paced team and flexible enough to work on modern systems or legacy components to understand all the pieces that should align correctly to support a large enterprise development team. The qualified candidate should be able to provide on rotation 24/7 support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advanced administration skills in Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu) Servers.
  • Strong administration skills in Windows Servers.
  • Ability to assess, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities on Linux and Windows servers.
  • Ability to support Windows Hyper-V server cluster environments.
  • Extensive virtualization experience using VMWare.
  • Experience in converting servers from Hyper-V to VMWare.
  • Setup/support/migrate mission critical business applications running on Apache web server and Apache Tomcat.
  • Responsible for Application Server's availability.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and manage server and application backups.
  • The ability to configure, install, and manage NetBackup server tools.
  • Provisioning and de-provisioning users for tools access and is not limited to adding/removing users to project server resources.
  • Ability to create CRQ in Remedy for errors/issues/failures.
  • Holding and facilitating meetings with internal and client team(s) to discuss requirements for upgrading servers and applications to latest versions.
  • Familiarity with IBM development tools. Troubleshoot and resolved IBM Installation Managers issues/errors as it relates to the tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation of RAD, RSA and other Integrated Development Environments used by development team.
  • Understand, troubleshoot and resolve ClearCase/ClearQuest, JIRA, HP, and UFT application and user issues.
  • Ability to communicate tool's failure to end users/managers and offer workaround or ETA of the tools' availability.
  • Write training/installation/process documents for users as needed.
  • Plan, test, and implement Disaster/Recovery solution for Hyper-V cluster. This includes a project plan, meetings with appropriate teams, and resources.
  • Plan, test, and implement upgrade of software fix packs to desktop and server OS. This includes a project plan, meetings with appropriate teams, and resources.
  • Plan, test, implement, and backup MySQL databases. This includes a project plan, meetings with appropriate teams, communication and resources.
  • Supporting Windows 10 upgrades and use of imaging tools.
  • The ability to conduct inventory assessments of servers, desktops, laptops, and workstations, and network appliances.
  • Ability to support annual desktop and server audits.
  • Provide root cause analysis and break fix related to servers and software tools.
  • Management of email distribution list.
  • Management of internal project Wiki's
