The Learner Support Specialist plays an integral role on our educator support team. The ideal candidate is an educator with teacher, mentor/coach, and educator evaluation experience. The role covers a range of exciting opportunities to engage with and support learners across our platform. This includes advising and guiding learners through our programs and pathways, coaching learners in specific content, and assessing portfolios of evidence. This support is vital to the success of our learners.


Roles and Responsibilities

Assessment (60%)

  • Assess and approve submitted (portfolios of evidence to earn micro-credentials; Offer direct,
  • comprehensive support, coaching, and guidance to assigned learners.
  • Develop Assessor Notes
  • Support ongoing content development
  • Facilitate assessor calibration exercises
  • Use technology-based learning and communication platforms to aid learners in their
  • micro-credential pathway and program progress.

Coaching / Facilitation (20%)

  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous coaching support services
  • Develop learner resources.

Educator Support (20%)

  • Provide our company and program level guidance to learners, ensuring proper alignment between our company programs and district/state level requirements while guiding the learner in creating and executing a plan to achieve.
  • Respond with urgency to meet learner needs and communicate professionally and respectfully with learners and all other members of our community.
  • Monitor the progress of assigned learners using a variety of tools, and offer proactive support and outreach to those learners.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within our company to support learners in their success.
  • When applicable, direct educator questions to the appropriate sources of information (i.e. Support Team/site, educator's local support systems, specific resources/materials, etc.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Well organized - conscientious and thorough with detail
  • Must demonstrate technological competency: Data entry, email, calendar, word
  • processing, and database programs.
  • Extraordinary customer service and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with ability to present information
  • clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking and writing style.
  • Reflective; introspective practitioner who continuously seeks opportunities to improve
  • Resourceful; able to leverage and adapt resources provided to ensure quality support
  • Nimble; able to adapt quickly to new information

Requirements

  • Masters degree required
  • 7+ years in K - 12 education, experience coaching and / or evaluating educators.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a mentor or instructional coach role.
  • Professional experience in school / district administration or higher education is preferred.
