JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Sr. Business Analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing analytic solutions for data discovery, data mining, & predictive modeling against very large data assets leveraging various program languages, complex computations, mathematical techniques, and graphical software's. This individual may also design, build, implement, document, and train others on their delivery solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop data mining, machine learning, statistical and graph-based algorithms designed to analyze massive data sets for business insights
  • Effectively communicate analytical findings to business partners and provide education on dashboards built
  • Creates analytic recommendations and solutions which lead to improvements in the quality of our data services and products
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to understand key challenges and drive improvements
  • Investigate and recommend attribute sources to enrich and enhance our dimensional models
  • Investigate data integrity issues and provide root cause analysis as well as options for solving the problem
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure data consistency throughout the platform
  • Build scalable and reusable data mining solutions and capabilities
  • Influence decisions on which tools and techniques we employ
  • Expected to be an active participant in all assigned tasks/projects
  • Expected to take charge of analysis, create reproducible research, and verify the results
  • Expected to properly index tables, profile query paths, validate attribute significance, optimize prediction modeling processes, and actively test queries prior to production release
  • Ability to collaborate with other development teams and accountability for delivery
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution
  • Practice active ownership of functionality and ensure successful on time quality completion and maintenance
  • Expected to present project replays and relevant external learnings to local team in the form of Knowledge Transfer sessions
  • Mentor less experienced team members
  • Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise
  • Expected to learn and understand our company values and software development principles. Should be able to work in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Actively engaged in both internal and external learning opportunities for new technologies in order to provide better solutioning

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Services, or from a four-year university with equivalent industry experience (Master's degree in Data Science preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience writing R, Python, PLSQL, SQL, HQL scripts against VLDBs and Big Data environments
  • Proven experience with relational databases
  • 5+ years' mastery with visualization solutions or analytic software for report delivery (ie. Tableau, Cognos, Microstrategy, HighCharts, GoogleCharts, open source, etc.)
  • Proficiency with analytic methods
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and practices
  • Snowflake, Netezza and Hadoop platforms (Hive, Pig, Hue)
  • Experience with Data Warehouse, Mathematical computations, & Statistics
