Job description
WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Knowledge Analyst (SKA) within BCG's Energy Practice Area and the Power & Utilities Sector, you will work in a growing global team, providing industry and/or functional expertise and insights whilst working together with case and proposal teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis and expert advisory. You'll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues.
Additionally, you will support your sector in developing existing & new intellectual property and
knowledge assets. You will work on commercialization efforts for the topic and sector, in conjunction with business leaders, supporting marketing efforts, conferences and publications. As a Senior Knowledge Analyst you will assist with on-boarding, training and guiding junior colleagues and share best practices within the team.
BCG's Energy Practice Area helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. We cover the oil and power & gas sectors, including all "green energy" sectors. We work with the full range of players in the industry: integrated international oil companies (IOCs), national oil companies (NOCs), upstream players, oilfield service companies, refiners, petrochemical producers, and oil trading firms, integrated power and gas utilities, international power producers, renewable specialists, energy wholesalers and retailers, commodity traders, and infrastructure and industry service providers, water utilities and waste-management firms, governments, regulators, industry associations, NGOs, technology companies, OEMs and suppliers to the energy and environment industry, energy-intense heavy industry players.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Solving complex client problems through relevant analytical approaches and customized solutions in power generation, with particular focus on topics related to the operation and management of renewable energy assets (incl., onshore and offshore wind as well as solar PV)
- Developing solutions and driving new ideas, with limited guidance and often incomplete information
- Communicating with senior stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to engage your audience effectively
- Managing a portfolio of projects, with strong awareness of business priorities and commercial impact
- Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
- Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas
- Working in an ever changing and complex environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and navigating a fast-paced environment
- 1-2+ years consulting experience in power generation and large-scale renewables, incl. asset management/operations; candidates with consulting experience preferred
- In lieu of consulting experience, 2+ years minimum industry experience required; 3-6+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
- Good understanding of the power sector and its trends, including topics like renewable energies, decarbonization, regulation
- Fluency in English; other languages valuable (e.g., German)
- Solid analytical skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environment
- Strong navigation through MS applications, more particularly PowerPoint and Excel, know-how of other analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau of advantage
