Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University Public Health Laboratory at School Of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a Senior Lab Assistant to assist with laboratory core functions ranging from ordering to the management of laboratory supply inventory and financial reports. The Senior Lab Supply Assistant will be responsible for working closely with the laboratory associates and assistants and the laboratory manager to ensure timely ordering and receiving of essential laboratory supplies. Additionally, the Laboratory Coordinator will also work closely the School of Medicine and Health Sciences Finance office to ensure timely completion of expense reporting and appropriate budget management.

This is an opportunity to work with an accomplished team and collaborative group of laboratory scientists. Knowledge of the basics of laboratory research and demonstrated track record in financial management are strongly desired, and strict attention to details and timelines are essential. Must possess strong organizational skills, able to balance multiple time-sensitive priorities with excellent follow-through, and troubleshoot/trace unexpected obstacles.

Responsibilities will include:

* Communicate with laboratory staff regarding laboratory needs and ensure adequate supplies are available at all times
* Maintaining laboratory supply inventory and updating tracking files
* Laboratory supply (standing and ad hoc) and equipment ordering, including:
* Researching supply specifications and availability
* Collaborating with GW Procurement around sourcing and vendor registration
* Requesting quotes from vendors
* Follow-up with vendor representatives to ensure timely arrival of supplies and equipment
* Processing and tracking invoice and p-card payments
* Creation and submission of purchase requisitions and expense reports
* Resolving lab operational and ordering issues (e.g., declined payments, delayed items, need for Pcard increases, rush orders, etc.)
* Collaborate with GWSPH Finance team on reporting to internal and external stakeholders about purchasing and usage of supplies.
* Approve biweekly payroll for non-exempt lab employees.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

* Experience with laboratory research and purchases of laboratory consumables
* Experience with Concur and/or Oracle
