Technamo is a Tier-I Contractor to provide IT Services to virginia govt. agencies (70+ entities) and contracted to provide services to state govt. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Delaware and Maryland govt. agencies.

Engagement Length in Months:

This is a long-term position for a 12-month period with an option to extend at the company's sole discretion for an additional 12 months.


Where is the physical work office located?

Washington, DC (please note that the position will be remote to start and then onsite once offices officially reopen. However, it is possible that the selected individual may need to come into the office occasionally prior to the official reopening

Summary of duties:

The Senior Project Business Analyst is responsible for development of business and technical requirements for Large or Mega complexity projects or a very large component of a high complexity program. Individuals in this role use technical knowledge and related experience to work with business and technical experts to identify and document requirements, processes and specifications needed to complete project deliverables with focus on effective use of people, tools and technology within context of the portfolio, considering other projects and inter[1]dependent work. Individuals in this role work under indirect supervision of senior level Program Manager or PMO Leader. The role requires regular reporting of status, risks, and documentation of issues as they arise, leveraging tools, data and process information collected throughout project duration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the program or portfolio intake process through the governance process by defining and documenting business and technical needs, deriving requirements, specifications and user stories.
  • Conducts requirements meetings, and documents issues, and risks that may be discovered through project planning, execution and change management process.
  • Performs analysis of collected information to identify patterns and develop potential solution options in collaboration with designers, architects, engineers, project managers and sponsors.
  • Uses complex data and process information to compile and produce reports for various audiences
  • Distributes key project or program communications and other relevant information as directed by the Program Manager or Controls team
  • Documents business processes by using process mapping tools, identifies process gaps and organizational misalignments
  • Manages document version controls and supports the project by using technology tools such as SharePoint, Power BI, financial systems and project logs.
  • Adheres to Amtrak Enterprise Project Management methodology.

Qualifications


Required Skills & Work Experience

  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service
  • Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project),
  • SharePoint and/or Power BI super-user
  • PMP Certification in good standing
  • Minimum of 3 years of practitioner experience with focus on business analysis and Bachelor's degree, or any equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Must have strong quantitative skills & experience taking raw data and drawing actionable insights from it
  • Must have demonstrated capability in working with large virtual teams
  • Must have work authorization in the United States.

Preferred skills & work experience

  • PMI - PBA or CBAP,
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Transportation industry experience

Additional key criteria include:

  • The Senior Analyst will support IT Capital Planning (Project Portfolio Management), project management governance, and reporting. A successful candidate must have expert level of data analysis and communication skills, great attention to details, and a can-do attitude. Process mapping and automation experience using Microsoft suite of tools, such as Teams and Power Automate is strongly preferred.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint sites, tools, templates, and identify process automation opportunities
  • Perform portfolio trending analysis, project financial, project status and executive reporting
  • Conduct expert level data analysis working with large amount of data sets to quickly extract insights. Must be a power user of Excel. Power BI experience is preferred.
  • Provide project management standard, governance, audit, and training support
  • Collaborate with all levels of stakeholders within IT and with peer organizations
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft suite of productivity tools, such as PowerPoint, Word, Visio.
