Job description

Red Ventures is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Media & Technology Entertainment team. The M&T Entertainment team supports and maintains client facing web technologies for TV Guide, Metacritic, and Cord Cutters News.

As a software engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling pages for high-volume, high-traffic end-user facing websites. You will be working closely with our Product team to build and support new and existing features on our web sites while also maintaining core framework code within their web applications.

We are looking for a hard-working, accountable individual who can write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices. Ideal candidates should possess the ability to work as part of a close-knit cross-functional team, capable of solving complex issues with minimal guidance.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with senior engineers to design platform architecture.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and support high-performance, scalable, and innovative backend data flows, services and tools.
  • Frequent interaction with a variety of product development team members, including product management, software engineering, quality assurance, and operations engineering.
  • Maintain project deadlines utilizing Agile development practices
  • Close collaboration with other engineers on the team to discuss best implementation strategies and practices with the goal of ensuring uniform approaches and standards
  • Be part of building a positive team environment

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years professional Java programming experience
  • 1+ years professional PHP and JavaScript experience
  • 1+ years MySQL and mongoDB experience
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exposure to all technical aspects of the product life cycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, quality assurance (automated and manual), documentation, support, maintenance.
  • Experience with Solr/Lucene technologies
  • Experience with PHP Symfony framework
  • Experience with the GCP
  • Experience at a large-scale web site
  • Experience developing large software systems
